I seem to have two separate garmin connect accounts with the same email.

I got a Garmin watch here in China last October, and have been using the Garmin Connect app with it with no problem ever since.  Today, I wanted to connect my Garmin Connect app with my fitness pal, but my log in information would not work.  I double checked and the email I was using was the email I was logged into on my phone, but out of curiosity I went ahead and tried to create another account using the same email, and it actually let me do it.  I started to think that maybe the email I was seeing on the app of my phone was for something else, so I logged out on my phone to log back in with the email that I had just created,  and it is obviously the same account that I have been using because all of my data is still there.

When I try to log in with that information on my computer, it logs me into an account with no data at all, which is obviously the same account I created earlier today.  This seems impossible and I am very confused.  Could me being in China have anything to do with any of this.?

  • As I advised in the other thread you opened, try following the instructions in the document of Garmin Suport Data is Missing from My Garmin Account After Syncing

  • I had this happen to me a second time yesterday. I contacted support who indicated that engineering was aware of the issue and were working on a solution. Apparently the reports of this issue started on May 15th. My issues started on the 17th.

The way I fixed my situation was to import the activity manually. The first time I tried, web Connect indicated that the activity id was already there even though I couldn't see it. However when it said it e=was already there, it provided a link to see the activity.  What I did at that point was to delete the activity in Connect and then manually import it from the list of activities page. That fixed my problem.

Based on my experience and despite your other thread on 2 accounts with the same email address, I no longer believe it's a 2 account issue. It's more likely a bug in web Connect. Alternatively, firmware on my VA3 updated to 7.30 just last week.

  • OK, you crossposted the same topic in several threads, which makes it a little bit more difficult to follow you, since you add diverse details in different threads. I would be better to keep all your posts regarding this issue in a single thread, and to stop continuing on cross posting in other concurrent threads.

In the other threads you did not mention you being in China. Have you registered the other account in a different location? That could be easily the reason. I have already seen a case where a Chinese account was isolated from an account created with the same credentials in Europe (as far as I remember): So make sure to set your location in your Garmin account at https://www.garmin.com/en-US/account/profile/ to the right location you want to use. Then remove your device from the accounts of Garmin Connect Web, and Garmin Connect (as described in the document Data is Missing from My Garmin Account After Syncing), log out of both apps, and then log back and add your device again.

  • I no longer believe it's a 2 account issue

The case of  is clearly different than yours, , since he admitted he does have two different user ID's (a different one on the phone and another one on the web).

  • Given that I encountered a similar issue and the fact that his link to Strava was still working, it seemed to me that his issue might not be a different account issue. In any event, I received this email from Garmin support today:

    "Hello,

We're reaching back out regarding the recent reports of an issue with the All Activities list or News Feed not displaying recent activities that were synced into the account. We're pleased to announce that this issue has been resolved via a back-end update and should no longer be occurring.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention and for your patience while we worked to address the issue.

    Thank you for choosing Garmin,

    Jay

    Garmin International"

  • As I wrote,   reported (in one of the multiple other threds he opened about the same issue) that he did have two different user IDs on the phone app and on the web, hence his case appears to be clearly unrelated to your issue.

Thank you, I will try this.

I will also just keep on this thread now instead of others.

I created the first one in China without a VPN but possibly created the second one with a VPN making it think I was in America.

But i I did try logging in with the VPN turned off before I created the second account and it acted like my email did not exist. That is why I tried creating the second account, to see if it would let me.

So why couldn’t I log into my account in the first place?  The only place it signs me into my original account is on the app.

  • How do I even find my user name?

One possibility is that the web account uses different ID than your phone app. On the phone app, go to Menu » Settings » App Diagnostics and note the Displayname code. Then open the web interface, click your avatar in the upper right corner, and select the option View Profile. Now compare the ending code in the address line of the browser, with the code from the phone app. If they are not identical, you have two differrent accounts, and need to use the same one on both sides. You can log out of the web account, and log in back using the identification from the phone app.

Though you can still have multiple accounts even if the web and phone apps show the same ID. You can also try instructions from this support document - they may help in such case too.

And if you suspect your current location in China is the culprit, then change the location in your Garmin account to the original one, and try again in that way.

  • Please do not continue posting the same issue in multpiple threads. It makes it very difficult to understand all the details, especially when you use an anonymous numeric username, making it difficult to identify that all those multiple threads are from the same person. I believe I already saw at least four different threads you started about the same topic, and you continue feeding most of them. It does not really help anything.

Please only go on in the thread https://forums.garmin.com/apps-software/mobile-apps-web/f/garmin-connect-web/130535/two-accounts, where I just posted some hints, you can try
