New Treadmill badges not awarded

Due to Covid-19, during the month of April 2020 I ran 100 Km mostly on treadmill. I run almost daily and each run was at least 5 KM. However I didn't received the 1 Mile nor the 5 Km treadmill badges.  Can anybody help ? Any point help me to move to the next level :-)

  • Try editing it - click the Edit option, change some value (i.e. add a Calorie), and save.

  • Thanks Corr,

I have emailed [email protected] and they are working on the problem.

  • Hi kansasironman

I suggest you to email [email protected] with the detail of your problem. I did and they are working on my problem.

    Hope this help.

  • I have found a few things that appear to be requirements for treadmill badges based on my export of data I used to calculate when I hit the Treadmill 50.

    1. It must be recorded through a Garmin Device and not imported.

    2. Even if it is done via a Garmin device you cannot edit elevation gain or loss (maybe even other fields) or it will not count towards certain badges.  (certainly the amount of runs done, not sure about total miles)

    3. It will exclude all but the one treadmill run for the day.  If you do 3 runs, it only counts it as 1.

    4. I don't believe it counted an older run with my vifofit that did not have a stride length available in the data.

I had 68 Treadmill runs logged that used a Garmin device the day I was awarded my TM 50 badge.  8 of them were runs done more than once in a day, 9 of them I edited elevation gain data (even though it was recorded on a Garmin device) and 1 from my old vivofit.  Backing all those out is the only way I could get to 50 hit that day and leads me to believe the above is true.  Garmin needs to fix excluding extra data entered in my opinion.  If they can't measure elevation gain on a treadmill why penalize the user for giving more context to their runs?

  • Note that only treadmill runs after the date 2020-04-28 counts.

    1. Yes. That is the rule for all badges and badge challenges.

    2. You can change everything except the activity type. It must be Treadmill running to count for the treadmill badges. If you need running distance you can change the distance to whatever you like. If you need lots of running time you can change it to 40 hours (the max). When I did some tests for the Enduro badge I had to use two activities to get the full 80 hours.
I haven't tested with elevation gain or loss, but I don't think there is some sort of restriction to those fields either.

    3. You can do how many treadmill runs per day you like. All counts. I used that when I was close to getting the badge. I did 10 shorter runs on the treadmill with strength training in between to get the badge a bit faster.

    4. All activities recorded with a Garmin device with the activity type "Treadmill running" counts.

  • You are right!!!  I looked at it that way and it came up with 50 counting the duplicate runs and edited.  What a strange coincidence in all my logged treadmill runs that the edited and duplicated days of all my entries excluded came to 50.   Thanks for pointing that out.
