No steps or intensity minutes data in Garmin connect since March 31st Update

Hi, i have been using my Garmin Approach S60 for a couple of years, without any problems.   Usually for golf, but due to lockdown i have been running a lot.

Since a software update for Garmin Connect for Android on March 31st, my phone or the web OS, do not show my steps or Intensity minutes data. My phone will show the current number of steps for the day, but when i click into the steps page, no steps logged since March 31st.  Same with intensity minutes.

This is despite me having logged and correctly synced at least 4 running activities a week for the last 2 months and a week of skiing before that, all have uploaded and logged info correctly.

I have reset my watch, disconnected it from my garmin connect, completely from my phone, deleted garmin connect, reinstalled and set up as new, still does not show the required data.  Makes no sense and i cannot work out another way to get it to sync.

Anyone else experience this?

  • Very likely your device is associated with more than one account. Try following the instructions in this document:

Data is Missing from My Garmin Account After Syncing

  • Thanks, but unfortunately that is not the case.  I have had the same Garmin account for 7 years which i used with my old Vivoactive.  That is no longer attached to my account and i have only ever synced my S60 to this account.  It was working absolutely fine up until March 31st when there was an update to Garmin Connect.

I have just updated the watch again through Garmin express and some of the data from the past 3-4 days has now appeared, but not all the way back through April.  All seems a bit buggy and not what id expect from a premium Garmin product.

Well, if you waited a month before trying to resolve the problem, you cannot be really surprised. It was probably sufficient simply rebooting the device when you noticed the issue. It is generally recommended, even on Garmin's website, to reboot the device after an update. However, even if it did not help, when waiting a month before seeking help, you can't be surprised some of the missing data got lost, regardless whether you have a premium device or a low-cost one.

In the first your post (2 hours ago), you tell that you cannot get it sync, while in your second post 20 mins ago, you tell you synced some data of the last days. So do you still have a problem with syncing the data and need some help, or is it resolved (if we ignore the data of the passed month)?

If you miss some activities from the past month, in Garmin Connect, you can import them manually. Just load the FIT files from the folder //GARMIN/Activity on the device, and import them by dropping on the page https://connect.garmin.com/modern/import-data

  • I didnt wait a month after I noticed the issue.  I noticed the issue yesterday, and upon investigating further, found that the missing data correlated with the date of the last update, to the Connect App, not my device.  Dont see the need to reboot my watch because the app was updated.

In my first post I state that some info syncs fine, all my recorded activities, its just the generally tracked data (steps, sleep, intensity mins) that were not being synced or logged in the app for an unknown reason.  I had rebooted the watch and still did not work, it wasnt until totally deleting the app and unpairing the device, then reinstalling everything + a device update that it worked.  Not normal.

The watch still shows sleep and steps for many days which have not been logged in the app.

I dont necessarily need the missing data, but having spent what I did on the device, I expect it to work correctly and not to just stop recording information.

If you know about a way how to achieve it, then please apply for a job at Garmin. Or at Tesla, Apple, Microsoft, Google, Virgin Space, NASA, or any other similar tech organisation. Even projects with budgets many orders of magnitude higher than those of Garmin do not manage to avoid mishaps, or bugs, so everyone will gladly employ you if you have a recipe how to find and avoid any problems before they happen Smiley
