Garmin connect app/ fenix6

Connect app recognizes fenix6 sapphire watch but stops installation. Watch shows message: download garmin connect mobile app but this is installed on phone.

  • Are you sure you do not mistake Garmin Connect Mobile for Garmin Connect IQ? Those are two different applications. If it is really installed, start it, let it in the foreground, stop any App Overlays (small buttons of mostly mesaging applications forcing themselves on the top of everything), and make sure the GCM app has all permissions it needs. Also turn on bluetooth. If it all does not help, try clearing the Bluetooth cache, reset the network, check out battery optimizing parameters. You can find these and many other tips in details in this thread.

I do not mistake the app problem is that the app finds my fenix6 and asks to connext I see the installation bar but that does not go any futher. After a while I get the message installation failed try again.

  • When you open the Bluetooth screen on your phone, is the watch listed there? If so, then in which part - Available Devices, or Paired Devices? Is your phone connected to the Internet when you are attempting to add the watch? Does the GC app have all permissions granted (incl. the access to the Internet)? You should also try connecting to a local WiFi, if you just use G4 data instead.

In the Bluetooth screen the watch is not listed and cannot find the watch in the list of to pair device. However

when I select add watch in connect app it finds the watch and asks to connect and go on with further installation. There is stops after 1 minute.

Phone is on internet via WiFi permissions are granted to app Bluetooth cache is emptied and both device are restarted.

On the watch I select phone / connect to phone and watch has connection with wifi

Last week the watch was connected to the app but had to remove because would not connect anymore.

    It worked in the past

Could be that some data stayed in the app cache when you removed the devicve previously. Try clearing also the app cache in Android settings » Apps » Connect. What I find strange though is that the phone's BT screen does not list the watch among available devices. Watch's connection to WiFi is uniportant for this purpose - it communicates with the GC app over BT, not over WiFi.

If clearing the app cache does not help, perhaps reinstalling it would do the trick. You can also try diverse tips from this thread, discussing sync problems. In some cases resetting the network helps fixing sync problems, but at certain phone models (especially at Huawei) battery optimizing and other features need to be adjusted. If you own a Huawei phone, you can also try installing the version 4.27.1 (from an APK archive), instead of the recent 4.28
