Forum Issues

There is no forum for issues with the forum self, hence posting it here to the GC Web forum. Hope an admin of the forum has a chance to spot it. Recently there are some issues that appeared on the forums:

  1. Since yesterday (or perhaps already since the day before), the view counters stopped working, so all new threads show 0 views, despite having multiple replies. And the views at old threads stopped incrementing too, of course.

  2. Some sticked threads disappeared - for example the thread about troubleshooting sync problems on the GC Mobile Android forum - since there are each day around a dozen of posts asking help with sync problems, it could perhaps help avoiding so many duplicate posts.

  3. Since several weeks, my counter of notifications in the upper right corner of the forum page permanently shows minimally one unread notification, but it does not list any, and there is no unread notification even if I enter the full list of notifications. I did not find any way to reset it. Disabling all notifications does not make it disappear either. Logging out and back in does not help. I suspect that it happened when some of the old watched threads was merged with another one, or deleted, before I had the chance to open it. Now, I have no way to mark it as read, since it does not exist.

  • The empty notifications' problem still occurs and you're right that it may happen after merging.
I have 1 for Halloween / Trick of Treat badge after 2022 thread was merged with 2019 one.

The notification's text is not visible on the page, but it's in json:
    forums.garmin.com/api.ashx/v2/notifications.json?IsRead=false
Sometimes opening a linked thread from it cleared notification, but not this time.

But option on the notifications' page: Mark all as Read - cleared that empty one.

  • But option on the notifications' page: Mark all as Read - cleared that empty one.

Yes, I know it works now, but this feature did not exist the three years ago, when I created this thread Slight smile

  • Good to mention as there was already similar option Mark all read at the bottom, which wasn't clearing it.

I found that Mark all as Read on notifications' page clear also empty notifications just with this occurrence of this bug. Clicked it just in case. As the bug is still up, so I wasn't really hoping that mark all was upgraded, but indeed it was.
