Vertical scale in weight diagram has changed to 0-100 kg

The vertical scale was always narrowed down around my actual weight. For example 82-88 kg. This way, I could easily see the changes over time.

This morning, my weight was just a horisontal line. Because they have changed the scale to 0-100 kg, which makes it absolutely impossible to see any short term changes in weight. I wonder if this was on purpose. It is unusable.

I know that there were a lot of complaints about not being able to set the scale manually, which could be especially disturbing when browsing back through earlier periods and having the scaling change for every page. I tend to agree to those complaints. But setting the scale to 0-100 is not the solution to that.

  • My diagram still behaves like you describe it did for you in the past - centered around your weight with a few kg:s up and down. Regardless of period chosen. Browser: Firefox

  • If your graph shows a too wide range on the Y-axis, then it is possible that you did not set any weight goal, or have it too far from you actual weight - the weight goal influences the range of the Y axis of the graph, as well as the min and max weight values do.

Note: with GCOverrides enabled, you can also adjust the range of both, the X and the Y axes, manually, by selecting a deired region with the mouse. Without GCOverride you can only adjust the X axis.

  • I have had the scaling working perfectly well until a few days ago without having a weight goal set.

So if a weight goal is now suddenly necessary, it just proves me right: Garmin did change something.

  • ... and now I figured out what Garmin might have changed. It appears from the screenshot below that I have set a weight goal of 0 kg - which I of course have not.

So someone at Garmin probably decided a few days ago that people without a weight goal should now have a weight goal of 0 kg.

I deleted the weight goal, and my diagram is back to normal.

  • Update:

Today, Garmin had again changed my weight goal from nothing ('Add goal') to 0 kg. And the diagram scale was again 0 - 100 kg.

Usually, when a Garmin setting keeps changing, it is because the same setting exists in the watch and in Connect, and one of them keeps overwriting the other in a synchronization. However, I can't find a weight goal setting in the watch, so that doesn't seem to be the case here.

I could of course as a workaround set a weight goal in Garmin Connect around my actual weight, but that can't be right.

  • Don't you, by chance, use MyFitnessPal? The weight goal could be set there, although in my case it syncs nicely, regardless on which side I change the goal - it then transfers to the other side cleanly, and is not being ovewritten with an unwanted value.

  • No. I don't use MFP.

But have you recently tried not having a weight goal? This is the use case where I suddenly experience the problem.

  • But have you recently tried not having a weight goal?

Why should I? I just set the goal to my current weight, and stop bothering about it.

  • OK. Have a nice day.
