Strava tcx Exports of TCX files Failing to upload

Strava exports a tcx file. When uploading to https://connect.garmin.com/modern/import-data , the site shows the error "One of your files was not accepted by the system. Please contact Support for assistance."

I have exported several different tcx files and each give the same error.

I have opened up the tcx file in an XML editor and it appears to be well-formed.

Other users in older posts have suggested using the gpx format, but the Strava site appears to no longer offer that option. Export Original doesn't appear to allow for choosing different formats.

I have tried using https://tapiriik.com/, but it is reporting that the Garmin APIs no longer support uploads. "Due to new limitations in Garmin Connect's API, tapiriik can no longer upload activities to your Garmin Connect account, download historical activities from before you connected to tapiriik, or detect private acitivites (all activities uploaded to your Garmin Connect account will be synchronized)."

I doubt it is relevant, but I am trying to export Peloton workouts to Strava and then import them into Garmin Connect so I can use Garmin Connect as my consolidated dashboard. The attached workout was pushed to Strava from Peloton. If anyone has an alternative solution to the tcx import / export, that works too.

I'm having the same issues and I'm following this process for the exact same reason...no way to get peloton rides on Garmin connect.

I'm having the same issues and I'm following this process for the exact same reason...no way to get peloton rides on Garmin connect.

Had the same issue (exported tcx files from Strava cannot be imported in Garmin connect). Found that only the leading whitespaces in the first line of the files was the problem. Fixed it using a small powershell comand (reducce/trims every line of file in the current folder)

ls *.tcx -rec | %{$f=$_; (gc $f.PSPath).Trim() | sc $f.PSPath}

Genius! Thanks!! For those less tech savvy go to powershell and navigate to where your tcx files are. Then run Udeson command.

For those of you using MacOS instead of Windows, the command below may be used to trim the spaces Strava-exported .tcx files that Udeson is referring to in your. I was only able to import all of mine after doing this, so it's still an issue with Strava exports even after 2 years.

You will need to either use cd to change to the folder in your terminal before running the command, or an easier approach is to open Finder, navigate to the parent folder of the folder containing the tcx files. Right click on the actual folder containing the .tcx files and click Services => New Terminal at Folder. Then run the following command:

sed -r -i'' '1 s/^\s+//' *.tcx
