Garmin Connect and MFP Continuing Sync Issues

It seems there are a string of posts dating back years on this topic and yet people are still having problems.

I had my own issues 3 months back and managed a manual fix to ensure that MFP calorie data was synchronising with Garmin Connect so I could see calories in/out on both apps. However, I now have a message on Garmin Connect (Web version) saying that "Unable to Sync: Right now we aren't able to sync with your MyFitnessPal account. It looks like something temporary, so please try again later".

Well it certainly doesn't seem temporary as it's been like this for days. I appear to be disconnected on MFP (via the Apps section) and when I click on the button to reconnect I end up back on the Calories section in Garmin Connect with the same blue error message. There doesn't seem to be an option to "disconnect" within Garmin Connect (not from what I can see anyway).

Anyone else having a similar issue? Frankly, I am sick to death of both Garmin and MFP for their crappy applications. Why bother creating hardware when the support for analysis online is flaky at best. Rant over...

  • Did you also try stopping anti-virus, and anti-ad software and/or browser plugins? Also, the use of anonymizers, proxy servers, or some content filtering on your pc or on the router, could easily cause problems with the connectivity to MFP. Did you try with another browser, or from another PC? Also trying an alternative Internet connection (another router) may be worth of trying.

In the worst case, simply ask a friend with a smartphone for help, and connect the accounts from GC Mobile on a borrowed phone.

  • I'm having all the same problems. MFP used to be linked to Garmin Connect, but now it is not. There is no link to be able to connect or disconnect MFP from the calories in/out page. Have followed the suggestions on every forum. Have tried multiple computers. Have enabled popups. Have tried from the phone. The only thing that works is creating an entirely new Garmin account. I do that and poof, the link shows up to connect myfitnesspal, myfitnesspal easily syncs, and all of the missing links magically show up. This is not a problem created by the users. It is a problem with garminconnect, and I hope they address it soon, as it isn't a tenable solution to recreate an account every time their software glitches.

Just to let you know, I still haven't resolved this. Thought an upgrade to the new Microsoft Edge Browser might help but it didn't.
