Corrupt fit file

Hi!

I rode Paris-Brest-Paris this year and unfortunately deleted the activity on my brand new Garmin Edge 830. I recovered the file and tried to repair it, because its file header changed and I cannot upload it to Garmin Connect. I used https://www.fitfiletools.com but every time I get an error “The upload appears to be malformed and we are unable to process it.”. Can you please help me? I uploaded the file to my Dropbox Account: https://www.dropbox.com/s/jf42g8xbdh0kdjd/2019-08-19-05-17-44.fit?dl=0 Let me now if you need more information. Thanks a lot!

Btw. I recored the whole ride of 1228 km without charging my device! I started at a battery level of 97% and after almost 47 hours of riding I arrived the finish with still 12% battery left. I disabled wifi, bluetooth, the map and did not use a track to follow... That so awesome! After a super disappointing Edge 820 you absolutely nailed it with the Edge 830. Awesome job guys!!

:)

Ehm, I'm not sure if its again the same content but I got a third file recovered with a different checksum than the others...

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/ery4amc4rpgc5pe/2019-08-19-05-17-44-3.fit.zip?dl=0

But I thinks the checksum differs because of the creation date...

you are aware that the files you are recovering are not fit files !

the files you recover only contain pieces from a real fit file which are stuck together by the recovery software

the piece in this file which contains real fit data is the same data as found in the other two previous files

what is the checksum you mention in your post ?

so it looks like there is data as mentioned in another post, but no recoverable data

your last hope lies with Garmin

I uploaded and deleted it two times on Garmin Connect via the iOS app cause of the problem with the Strava sync. The upload to Garmin Connect worked fine.

I mentioned another user who did P-B-P

I uploaded his original fit file to my Garmin account , which took a looooong time to process !

Is there nothing in strava from your sync ?

    résumé

unfortunately deleted the activity on my brand new Garmin Edge 830
Is deleting an activity on the edge such a different progress
Cause I already did the upload successfully but deleted it
I used only one file. Pushed stop and shut it down during breaks.
I uploaded and deleted it two times on Garmin Connect via the iOS app
We rode in a group of three so I already have 2 tracks. Distance, time, speed are fine. Its just the missing data of my heart rate monitor and the power meter... :-/

did you delete the ride from within the edge or from Garmin Connect Mobile ?

when on edge, the scans you performed only show partial and undefined data records

when via GCM, have a look in the ATIVITIES folder on the edge for fit files dated for that time period Slight smile

think this was my last idea 8ball

    Hej OnlyTwo!

The bad news - nothing worked so far. I'm still waiting for the message of Garmin support, but even if they reply I don't think they can recovery the file.

The good news - I got the almost original .fit-file :) I found it on my unused Training Peaks account. Garmin did a push right after the first upload... Super nice! I just downloaded it there, renamed the file, put it on my Edge and it synced to all the platforms...

    So - problem solved.

Thanks a lot for you help and your quick replies! You're awesome!

    :)
