Android 9 Pie issues

Hi!

yesterday I got the Android 9 update on my Android Mi A2. Since then i cant get a connection to my vivoactive. The bluetooth on the smartphone finds the smartwatch, but it seems not be connected and i cant use the "connect" button on the smartphone. I reinstalled the app, restarted the phone and watch and reconnected via bluetooth again (with the code) but then again, no connection.

is there some kind of fix for this?
  • There are quite a few experiencing the same issue as being discussed in the Garmin Connect Mobile - Android forum.

    https://forums.garmin.com/forum/into-sports/garmin-connect-mobile-application/garmin-connect-mobile-android/1389025-android-pie-problem

Some are having success with the fixes. Suggest calling Garmin support to get a case logged and/or add your name to the case.
  • I also have issues with mi a2 lite with android 9 pie. My vivoactive3 is showing "phone diconnected" / "phone connected" every 30 seconds.
The solution suggested is not working for me.

I tried even complete wipe of phone and vivoactive3 with no success. Until mi a2 lite was with oreo I had no issue. In this moment i'm using it with an older sony smartphone.
  • Again, lorenzhgs and @anyone-else-impacted-by-this, please contact Garmin support to get a case logged or add your name to an existing case.

I haven't had any issues with mine after Pie. Mainly just getting used to things being slightly different. My battery life is good, maybe better.

I already open a request to garmin support, but things are going very slow with them. I was just wonder if there were any anyone-else-impacted-by-this. because i received pie update recently but that is really annoying.

I also wonder If we cannot talk about strange issues here, what is the purpose of this forum?
    Bye

Thank you arso96 for your feedback
  • lorenzhgs who said we can't talk about issues? Out collaborative efforts can sometimes lead to a fix. But this forum is really a user-to-user help forum. Sometimes Garmin staff will step in to assist and sometimes not, but it is not a requirement. If there is an issue that is important to you, it should be reported to Garmin to get a case opened. Merely posting comments on the forum will not, in most cases, get a case logged. In this thread, until now, there was no indication that anyone had contacted Garmin support. If more people do that, there is a greater the chance that your issue will get the attention it deserves. Also, not sure how you opened your request, but calling will lead to faster response time.

I have the exact same issue with my A2 lite. When I first tried the watch was showing "waiting for app/waiting for connection" alternating. Then I tried all the fixes on the forum but no results as well which is pretty annoying... Especially since it really seems to be the COnnect app that doesn't work because I can connect through my phone's bluetooth settings. But after I enter the code there is an error, I suppose due to Connect app not working.
