There are 3rd party recovery tools that scan your watch for deleted files that typically cannot be viewed from the watch or file explorer.
For Windows:
For macOS:
Depending how long ago you discarded the activity, you may or may not have success, as the file will eventually be overwritten by new data. Use these tools at your own risk, as some of these tools can be a vector for scams, viruses, etc.
I have Mac OS. How can I reach that Garmin drive ?
Thanks, I managed to receiver this morning's activity after accidentally discarding it. I used Recuva. You have to be careful with fake downloads and custom install it.
Recovering worked for me with https://dmde.com/ on Mac. The user interface is quite bad but it works.
I downloaded DMDE and managed to get my Mac to mount and recognise my Venu, but I can't find a folder labelled "GARMIN/garmin/activities", so can't locate any activities to recover. I tried searching by date modified, but boy that user interface is a shocker. Any hints for the computer-challenged?
I understood you can use https://www.android.com/filetransfer/ for a Mac to support MTP, but I have read somewhere that changng the transfer mode in Settings->System-> USB Mode (try Garmin or MTP) might also work. Not a MAC user so cannot help from experience.
I did all of this with DMDE and was able to get the fit file saved onto my computer. But when I got the upload to garmin it says “we don’t support this type of file.” Tried Strava as well, and it says “the file appears to be malformed.” Any suggestions?
Any suggestions?
Zip the fit file and attach it to your post. We can look at it and try to repair it.
Thanks so much for the reply.
I think I did this right. Not the most savy with computers.
