Sleep time has been missing for the start of sleep because I get out of bed to use the loo. I have the latest update from July 2023.
Had the same. If I woke at 4:30am for the toilet then was asleep again at 4:45, it would show my sleep ended at 4:30 - even though I likely didn’t wake until 8:00am.
I found that adjusting my normal wake time in user settings from 6am to 9am seemed to work. Now my FR245M shows that yes I woke, but got back to sleep until 8am. My past sleeps seem to have updated in the app to accurately show the real sleep I got before actually getting up and starting my day.
I have switch from a Fenix 5S Sapphire to a Fenix 5 Pro. I used to have a significant amount of REM sleep and a small amount of Deep sleep, since I am using my new watch I only get deep sleep and no REM sleep at all. My profile used to tie up closely with my sleep app on my iPhone.
Is there a setting I need to change on the new watch to get this working again?
I know it's been over 2 years since you posted this but I have the same exact problem. I wake up and get out of bed in the middle of the night (usually 3:30am) for no more than 30 minutes to feed my 6 month old son. Then I get back to bed and fall asleep right away and stay asleep until about 7:30am. Garmin connect shows that I woke up at the right time but it doesn't recognize that I went back to sleep. In other words, according to garmin connect I woke up at 3:30am and never went back to sleep. This happens every single time I wake up during the night. I wonder if anybody ever found a solution. Btw, I'm using a vivoactive 3, but I doubt the watch is the problem since it always recognizes very accurately both the first time I go to sleep and the first time I wake up. Is almost as if the software only accepts going to bed once during a night and ignores a 2nd "going to bed".
There are two possible reasons that I can think of, JCN82. The first is that you perhaps don’t get back to sleep quite as quickly as you think. 30 minutes is quite a long time to be awake and active in the night (notwithstanding feeding your son!). The other, sorry to say, is that I found my VA3 to be less accurate in this respect than my VA4. Still, I often edit my sleep times for the same reason as you state.

I have the same "opposite" problem with my VA3. I can be asleep for 4 hours, get up for < 1 minute to use the bathroom, go back to sleep for 4 more hours and it shows my sleep to have STARTED after I went to the bathroom. Now I can go into Garmin Connect and manually edit the start time of my sleepand sometimes that will pick up the first 4 hours and sometimes it will still show those 4 hours as having been awake!
It is sad that this is still a problem five years later. I have Vivosmart 5, and my bedtime hours are set from 10:00 pm to 10:00 am; however, if I get up to use the restroom, or do anything else, at any point during the night, the sleep tracker only records one segment of sleep time. This needs to be fixed. It makes this device worthless in many ways. It affects body battery, sleep data, and stress data/levels/computations, at the least. I have had this device for a month, and am beginning to regret my purchase.
