Sleep tracking not working properly since update

Hi, wondering if anyone else is having this.

Since the update to register REM sleep, my watch now stops my sleep time if I wake up during the night. If I wake up and get out of bed to use the bathroom, in the morning my sleep will have ended at that time.

It's happened the last two nights - my sleep ending at 01:30, and 03:20, both times I know I got out of bed. This didn't happen before, I would just get the indications that I had spent time awake, but it would show when I went back to sleep and registered my real waking up in the morning accurately.

I suspect that there's something going on, as I don't get move alerts during this time (unless these are automatically turned off during the sleeping hours set in the watch?).

Right now the only solution I can think of is to not make the walk to the bathroom, but I don't think the girlfriend would be too happy about that
  • Sleep tracking has been off for me since the update as well but in a different way. Using a Fenix 5X, my start/stop times are still accurate within a couple of minutes, but apparently now I have zero or just a few minutes deep sleep. Before the 9.2 update on the watch, I would typically have 2-3 hours deep sleep and the longer times corresponded to days I had more difficult workouts/activities so it made sense. Since the update, it reports that I had 46, 0, & 35 minutes deep sleep. What gives?
  • Ever since Garmin introduced the Advanced Sleep Monitoring, I have hardly slept! :)
That is, even though I sleep a full night, Garmin Connect will report, that I have only slept for 2-4 hours. I hope Garmin is aware of this problem, and that they will fix it soon. In the meantime, is there a way to turn ASM of?
Before ASM, I had very good sleep results based on my actual sleep pattern.
PS: Using a vivoactive 3 - not that I think, it matters...
  • What advanced sleep monitoring..............I've not seen any changes
  • Had the same thing last night. Walk to the rest room at 0:30 and supposedly my sleep stopped. But actually slept until 5:30 until my light alarm went off and woke me.
  • Yes, same here with Vivomove HR - apparently I haven't slept more than an hour since the update. Not feeling too bad though :-)
The sleep monitoring was always a bit of a joke anyway (IMHO)

Same here. Sleep has been afu since 9.1 / REM update. FR 935
  • My Fenix 5 seems to do ok with the sleep but I have yet to see any REM sleep being recorded. I have done everything short of a factory reset but still no REM sleep. I am currently on 9.20.
  • My Fenix 5x is capturing almost no deep sleep since the update (was getting 65% deep previously) - is capturing REM sleep and sleep and awake times accurately.

the same here with 5s. after the update to 9 the sleep only work a few night and now just stop capturing any data. it says i should wear the watch at least two hours before going to sleep. can i go back to 8. was stable before
  • Well mine has been wonky and inconsistent since the update, but yesterday I took my watch off at 4pm and did not put on until 9pm when I went to bed. According to the watch I got 12 hours of sleep yesterday. Not. For a watch that won't log a nap that is pretty funny. Ok guys Fitbit does a decent job on this. Right now it is a pretty useless feature.
