Garmin Connect Badges Not Being Awarded

Thank you for the ongoing discussion regarding the new badges. We have been following these discussions and are investigating why some badges have not been awarded as expected.

We have created this thread to track reports of badges not displaying in accounts. Please post here if you did not receive a badge as expected, and provide:

  • Badge Type
  • Link to the activity (Privacy set to Everyone)
  • Any other details (such as social media platform you shared an activity to or linked your account with)
  • Do we have permission to view your account data while investigating this issue through our Administrative Tools (Yes/No)?

If you have previously posted about a badge not being awarded, thank you for doing so and there is no need to post again about that specific badge. We are investigating each of those reports and will reach out with any new information individually. We request that posts in this thread be saved for NEW reports of badges not being awarded to aid us in tracking these appropriately.

Thank you for the continued discussion and your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Check out my floor climbing activity on Garmin Connect. #beatyesterday

  • Check out my floor climbing activity on Garmin Connect

Unlike what I assumed, it looks like it is the Elevation Gain, and not the Ascent that is decisive for the badge level. In your case the Elevation Gain is 453m, while the threashold is 1500ft = 457.2m. I have no idea why there is a difference between the Ascent, and the Elevation Gain (logically it should be the same), but it looks like you are out of the luck. But at least you received the 1000ft badge, so it was no waste Slight smile

Personaly, just because I was not quite sure about the exact threshold, I did a few floors more than I estimated. I wanted to make 500m ascent to be sure, and finsihed with 161 floors, Ascent of 491m, and Elevation Gain of 537m. I still do not understand the discrepancy between Elevation Gain and Ascent. In my case, though, it was perhaps because I did it outdoors on stairscales on hill slopes, and was moving among several locations, pausing the activity during the change of locations.

  • Trux,

Thanks for all the feedback on this.  I did something similar today, but as you can see, my VA3 throws some strange data, even after I enable elevation corrections.  I did 30 minutes of stairs, 46 floors recorded, but I am sure I did more.

I am happy with the workout, but bummed that I did not at least get the lowest badge for my efforts.  Oh well, living on the coast makes it hard to get any elevation changes recorded!!

Thanks again for your help on this issue!

Thanks, I will do again, next time 2000ft to be sure the ascend and elevation gain will be right.

  • I did 30 minutes of stairs, 46 floors recorded, but I am sure I did more.

Next time, make sure to calibrate the altimeter before starting. Also keep the watch dry - on some Garmin models, the opening of the pressure sensor is close to the skin, and tends to clog with sweat. I got used to dry it up each couple of minutes with the tshirt.

And there are some more tips how to get a Garmin watch to count your stairs correctly in this thread: What's the secret to tracking stairs accurately?

Some of the same tips are included also in the offcial document: My Floors Climbed credit is not accurate. What can I do?

Today the error was opposite, I climbed 210 floors and the ascend was 576m and it recorded only 189 floors. Elev Gain 670m and finally I received the Badge.

  • Go to the activity page on Garmin Connect Web and verify the Elevation Gain value. It must be bigger than 334 feet.

Thanks for the reply i attached the info, the elevation is 58m 150fts aprox but the accent is 152m 450 fts or more.... I did 50 floors so is nos posible that my elevation gain is just 50meters

  • the elevation is 58m 150fts aprox but the accent is 152m 450 fts or more

Unfortunately, it is the Elevation Gain that decides whether you get the badge or not, and the elevation gain of 58m is simply not enough. Both values, the Elevation Gain and Ascent, should be actually identical, but very often they are different. You may want to report the illogical discrepany to Garmin Support.
