Garmin Connect Badges Not Being Awarded

Thank you for the ongoing discussion regarding the new badges. We have been following these discussions and are investigating why some badges have not been awarded as expected.

We have created this thread to track reports of badges not displaying in accounts. Please post here if you did not receive a badge as expected, and provide:

  • Badge Type
  • Link to the activity (Privacy set to Everyone)
  • Any other details (such as social media platform you shared an activity to or linked your account with)
  • Do we have permission to view your account data while investigating this issue through our Administrative Tools (Yes/No)?

If you have previously posted about a badge not being awarded, thank you for doing so and there is no need to post again about that specific badge. We are investigating each of those reports and will reach out with any new information individually. We request that posts in this thread be saved for NEW reports of badges not being awarded to aid us in tracking these appropriately.

06/19/2018: A new update has been posted here.

  • I did not receive the "Thanks for Sharing" badge

    I shared the ride via the GarminConnect mobile iOS App to Whatsapp on December 3rd, 2019

    I did not receive the "I've got connections" badge

    I've added a connection on May 26th, 2019 (my connection did get the badge, but I didn't)

  • This actually turned out to be the issue. My region was set wrong for my account, it was showing as Canada, not the U.S. Since they don't have our T-Day in Canada, I didn't get the badge, but once I fixed my region, both badges showed up!

  • This is for Android phones.

    Launch Garmin Connect

    Go to Settings

    Go to Profile & Privacy

    Scroll to the bottom and select Manage Garmin Account

    This will launch your web browser.

    Log in, the under Account Details select Edit 

    You'll find your region there. Change and save.

    It may take a few minutes, and maybe even logging out of Garmin Connect and re-logging in, to get your region to show changed in the app. 

    To verify your current region (can be done before all the above, from the Settings page, scroll to the bottom and select App Diagnostics.

    In the GCM ~ User section you will see a line labeled Consent Region. This is the current region you are set to.

  • Good find! Normally region is set automatically with account creation, but as you have found, it can be changed manually.

    I checked and this works. I searched for that and Region setting is also here: https://www.garmin.com/account/profile/

    Change "Localization" to region of some limited badge and then rename an activity which should get that regional badge. After page refresh a badge will appear.

    I have not received my New Year’s Eve badge, after running a 5k

    • Badge Type - New Year’s Eve

    I manually entered my indoor running yesterday (New Year's Eve), and did not receive the badge

    Badge Type = Finish Strong

    Permission to view my account = yes

  • Badges are not awarded for manually entered activities.

    oh.  that's a bummer.  indoor running = gps tracker not necessary.  looks like I'll miss out on the Start Strong badge, too.
