Garmin Connect Badges Not Being Awarded

Thank you for the ongoing discussion regarding the new badges. We have been following these discussions and are investigating why some badges have not been awarded as expected.

We have created this thread to track reports of badges not displaying in accounts. Please post here if you did not receive a badge as expected, and provide:

  • Badge Type
  • Link to the activity (Privacy set to Everyone)
  • Any other details (such as social media platform you shared an activity to or linked your account with)
  • Do we have permission to view your account data while investigating this issue through our Administrative Tools (Yes/No)?

If you have previously posted about a badge not being awarded, thank you for doing so and there is no need to post again about that specific badge. We are investigating each of those reports and will reach out with any new information individually. We request that posts in this thread be saved for NEW reports of badges not being awarded to aid us in tracking these appropriately.

  • Garmin-Joey I am not having an issue earning the badges I am having an issue viewing the badges. I have been awarded numerous badges the past week (I have received notifications that I have been awarded them) but when I go into connect to view them they aren't showing. The only badges showing are total steps badges, stepping up badges and double and triple goal badges.

    Hmmm, those are the old badges that are no longer used. What phone are you using? Are you sure you have the latest version of the Garmin Connect app?

  • Hello. One of the badge ranges I am yet to be awarded is the "Intensity Minutes" badges, and I cannot work out why?
    On the Connect app on my Android - Version 4.6.4 - I do not have an intensity minutes section, to look at, or even set a target - I am assuming this is due to my devices not being compatible with intensity minutes, but it is listed as a feature for the 920xt?     Could someone advise whether the Garmin 920xt (V9.70) or the Forerunner 225 (V2.90) has the ability to calculate intensity minutes? (Perhaps the FR225 does not which is OK, as it is not listed as my primary activity tracker)
    Anyone out there who can solve this little mystery? How do I get my intensity minutes?

    Amendment to this post - since posting this info, the listed "intensity minutes" feature on the garmin website has been removed/edited. So this post requires no further investigation.
  • I have not received the "I've Got Connections" badge despite having 2 connections.

    I am unable to trigger the "On the rocks" badge for Gravel Cycling by changing the activity type. on Garmin Connect.
    I'm using Fenix 3 HR so it doesn't have specific biking types.

    Go ahead and view my account data.

    I believe I have the latest version of the Connect app. Was just in the play store and there was no new version to download. As I said I am getting notification of earning the new badges it is just the old badges that are appearing within the app.
  • Hi. I’ve increased my VO2 max at least 2 times on runs since the new badges came out and still have yet to receive the ‘Well-Oiled Machine’ badge. Details as requested are below. Thanks!
    • Badge: Well-Oiled Machine
    • Link to the activity- this is proving to be hard because the graphs I'm finding on Connect either show my current VO2 max, or when displayed for the last 4 weeks it only shows the VO2 max at the start of that week. So I can see that it went up on one of my runs sometime between April 9th and April 16th, but there are 4 runs in that window. The individual activities don't have VO2 max in their summaries.     • Any other details: the description talks about raising either your running or cycling VO2 max. I’m wondering if this is keyed on the activity type. I don’t cycle and don’t have different heart rate zones set for different sports, just one set of heart rate zones for everything. The one thing I think it might be is that when I run I use the run app, BUT I use one of many “My Workouts” that I’ve created on Garmin Connect. So instead of selecting the run app and hitting start, I select the run app, hold the menu button until the run settings screen shows up, then I scroll down and select Training-> My Workouts-> and the workout I want (ie, 10K steady run). Then I go run. Maybe this confuses the process despite the fact that the uploaded activities always show up as runs in both activity type and the activity name.

    21 May update:
    I would also like to add the Zombie badge for you to look into.

    I earned this badge yesterday upon completing the 50K weekly steps challenge (The #2 place on the challenge Amy Prine) had the zombie badge. The criteria is “Catch the zombie virus by participating in a challenge with someone who has this badge”. I did, in the group steps challenge. Unlike another badge this one doesn’t specify the person has to be a connection. Just someone in a challenge.

    i’ll work on uploading a screenshot when I can get to a PC.

    - Something that was not mentioned in the forum: For 2678035106 activity I have earned Intense 300. BUT I can see this badge only in my Profile / Earned badges, the badge is not displayed in the activity in Connect neither on the web neither in the Android Connect.

    Activities are unlocked, permission granted to access my account data with an administrative tools.
