Garmin Connect Badges Not Being Awarded

Thank you for the ongoing discussion regarding the new badges. We have been following these discussions and are investigating why some badges have not been awarded as expected.

We have created this thread to track reports of badges not displaying in accounts. Please post here if you did not receive a badge as expected, and provide:

  • Badge Type
  • Link to the activity (Privacy set to Everyone)
  • Any other details (such as social media platform you shared an activity to or linked your account with)
  • Do we have permission to view your account data while investigating this issue through our Administrative Tools (Yes/No)?

If you have previously posted about a badge not being awarded, thank you for doing so and there is no need to post again about that specific badge. We are investigating each of those reports and will reach out with any new information individually. We request that posts in this thread be saved for NEW reports of badges not being awarded to aid us in tracking these appropriately.

  • Don't know. Try and see what happens. 

    1. I have a vivosport. I tried joining the January walking challenge, but my garmin does not record any distances that I walk. It remains on zero. I have tried leaving the challenge amd rejoining, but makes no difference. Anyone have an idea what I can do, please. 
  • Need to record as an Activity (press at start and when you finish) and also mark it as Walk.

    It's different from Steps which are saved all the time.

    If you don't have a Walk profile, then record as similar, like Run, and then sync to Connect, open that Activity and change its type to Walk.

  • I shared my first 5k run to facebook where I earned my frosty badge on January 7, 2024 (shared 3 days later on January 10th). The badge was then taken away and replaced with the thanks for sharing badge. Is there any way I can get my badge back, as much as I would love to run in the snow again, the temp is about to drop dramatically. My partner and I ran and earned this badge together, now he has it and I don't.

  • I think that if you make an edit to the activity it will update the weather. You can see if it helps if you make an update to the activity. As long as the temperature in the map says above 0 you will not get the badge. 

    Note that you can get the frosty badge with any activity. No need to do an hour of running in the snow. Just log a walk if it is below 0 degrees Celsius. 

  • You can open DevTools (F12) → Network, then open/refresh an Activity.

    Type weather, select it and choose Response - then you see exact weather data which was used.

    It's by time (issueDate) and position (latitude, longitude) and which station (weatherStationDTO).

    As both activities are at the same place, then it should be the same, strange there is difference, but you can check raw data to be sure.

    But you can get Frosty badge only once, so even if you miss it here, then you'll get in with any other activity at minus temperature later.

  • The Freebie badge was available only to those who had a Garmin Connect account on 2018-04-03
