Garmin Connect Badges Not Being Awarded

Thank you for the ongoing discussion regarding the new badges. We have been following these discussions and are investigating why some badges have not been awarded as expected.

We have created this thread to track reports of badges not displaying in accounts. Please post here if you did not receive a badge as expected, and provide:

  • Badge Type
  • Link to the activity (Privacy set to Everyone)
  • Any other details (such as social media platform you shared an activity to or linked your account with)
  • Do we have permission to view your account data while investigating this issue through our Administrative Tools (Yes/No)?

If you have previously posted about a badge not being awarded, thank you for doing so and there is no need to post again about that specific badge. We are investigating each of those reports and will reach out with any new information individually. We request that posts in this thread be saved for NEW reports of badges not being awarded to aid us in tracking these appropriately.

Thank you for the continued discussion and your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

06/19/2018: A new update has been posted here.

  • Oh wow it did work! Thank you. Very weird at the same time tbh that it just lets you do that.

  • It seems that the person who set up the Garmin Badges challenges (https://garminbadges.com/) and their point values haven't tried any kind of sport in his entire life...

The April Swim Week badge is a wonderful example (but there are much more) so let me scroll you through my issues on this one:

    - the value of 1000m swimming equals a value of 3miles of walking or 5000m of running or even 50miles of running/month.

    - due to the pandemic situation, the pools are closed. Even if they were opened, the open water swimming doesn't make any difference to pool swimming.

    - Garmin Connect is not Strava, it is not possible to report cheaters or fraud. If the profile is private, nothing is verifiable, however, badges are awarded anyway.

To get a swim badge, you just simply walk the required distance and change the activity type in Garmin Connect. Nobody can/will verify it and you can do such changes without consequences...

  • Just a note here. The site https://garminbadges.com is not an official Garmin site and got no way of creating challenges and badges in Garmin Connect. It is an ordinary user (me) that created that site and update it with the public data from Garmin Connect and what I experience using my Garmin products.

Pretty much all badges can be cheated. It is up to you if you like to cheat to get them awarded and then brag how hard you worked to get that badge.

  • Hi Andy,

I know.... but it would be fair if the person who is sharing his badges on your website, would share the activity in Connect as well...

    https://garminbadges.com/lists.php?type=users_with_badge&badgeId=1290&name=April+Swim+Week

first one is a badge hunter with a private profile

and the second one doesn't even exist in Connect.

And my comment was primary to Garmin developers...

  • I'm adding more functions to the page from time to time and one might be to add more information about the users, but the user will still have to supply the information if they like to. I will not force any user to make their activities public if they don't want to.

A possible function could be to make users supply more data about their activities in return for more access to functions at the site.

One function could be to hide certain users so you don't have to see them in the lists.

These are just ideas and nothing I'm currently working on.

  • And my comment was primary to Garmin developers...

You better send you comments or suggestions either to Garmin Support, or through the form Submitting an Idea to Garmin, since it is highly unlikely they would ever see your post here. However, there is no way cheaters could be stopped. There will be always a way to cheat in one way or another.

  • Since 2009, when I became a Garmin user (with my 310XT) I was submitting ideas, reporting issues to that site.

    All of them were ignored.

Garmin became a social media *** and the sport-like key features went aside. This is so called Development nowadays...

  • All of them were ignored.

They will be even more ignored here. When submitting through the New Idea form, you have at least the chance that a feature that is requested frequently will be once implemented. Do not expect, that the developers will hurry up to implement every of the thousands submission they are receiving every week. Their capacities are limited, and their priorities may differ from yours.

  • I do not mind and I do not care... there are no more suggestions for free anymore. If Garmin would offer me a Garmin Connect platform development director contract, I could make Connect great again...

But social media, forums and virtual reality is not my world. This is just an exemption because the hospital (my employer) ordered me to consume my 30 vacation days from the previous year.

  • If Garmin would offer me a Garmin Connect platform development director contract,

Apply for the job. There are indeed 40 positions free in the IT department of Garmin:
