Workouts no longer uploaded to fenix 5S after installation update Garmin Connect

Hi,

I have a Fenix 5S with the latest firmware, also 20 hours ago the newest update of garmin connect installed on my android device ( samsung note 4).
Now when I press the sync button on the app or when I manually sync from the watch I also get an error ( no sync on the watch - incomplete circle on the app) , it seems tot partially synchronise the watch; I get heart rate - sleep etc. downloaded from the watch and in the My day events; even workouts ( intervals created and completed on the watch) get sent to the app.

But I can't send workouts or scheduled workouts to my watch...

Note : just tried it on an iPhone with latest iOS , still nothing
Also on the MAC with connect and express nothing gets sent to the watch ( receiving is no problem)

Anyone have any ideas?
  • Struggled a lot tried several things this is what worked for me:

What I did before I could successfully transfer a workout:

    1. Deleted all workouts from both phone (and online) and watch. (not sure if necessary, but worth the try)
    2. Created workout using webpage version (NOT on the phone)
    3. Transfered workout via cable using Garmin Express (NOT with garmin connect)

Anything I tried from the phone did not work. Hope it works for the rest of you as well.

    Done in my 735xt

Issues with workouts/training plans not transferring to device is being investigated by the Garmin Connect team so that this can be resolved ASAP.

Please do. I made a mistake of deleting all my workouts in my device, as suggested on previous work around.. I ended up with no workouts in my device.. Please please fix this, and please don't let this happen again. Unfortunately, for Vivoactive 3, we can't create workout in it, is has through garmin connect. ;(

Is anyone aware of a final resolution for this issue? I was not having this issue back in March, when this thread was started. However, as of early July, I have not been able to transfer any any workouts (run or bike) to my Fenix 5 watch. Interestingly, I have been able to transfer (bike) workouts to my Edge 510. All of my workouts were created on the Garmin Connect web site, not from the phone app.
  • Did anyone find a workaround for this? I’m having the same issues with a Fenix 5. Only workable option seems to be via laptop/web browser
  • I'm having the same issue with a fenix 5. I created the workouts for my fenix 3 and everything worked OK. Now with the 5 I can see the workouts only after I select an activity, and they do appear on my calendar, but when I look directly for workouts, it tells me that I need to load them from Garmin Express. Thinking I should delete and recreate the on Garmin Connect & see if they load.

Edit: I found the issue with mine. The updated Garmin Connect for the fenix5 requires more information than it previously did for the fenix3. So I do need to recreate all of my workouts, indicating the type of activity for each, and the type of workout within each activity. Tedius, but once they're done I hope that will be the end of it.

Or I can just leave them as they are, under the 'other' activity category and still be able to do them from the calendar, they just won't be available in the Workouts menu on the watch.

Edit 2: So the trick is, that if you select the workout type to be Custom, Cardio, Run, Bike, etc...that is where the workouts will appear on the watch. Under that specific activity. I created all of mine under Custom, so that's where they all appear. You won't see a Cardio workout under the Run activity, for example. It appears that each workout is categorized under it's own Activity Type, somewhat like sub-menus.
