Hi. I recently purchased a FR235 and the VO2max updated after the first run on Dec 27th. I have done a good few runs since then but the VO2max has not been updated since the first run. Any idea why?
Where specifically does it say that? The four-week VO[SUB]2[/SUB]max report in Garmin Connect? I see data points for 25_Dec, 1_Jan, 8_Jan and 15_Jan on mine, but I didn't run on either 1/1/2018 or 8/1/2018.
Anyway, not every run will trigger a new assessment of VO[SUB]2[/SUB]max, and not every assessment will update the VO[SUB]2[/SUB]max figure, which is an attribute of the user and not of the timed activity.
Bought the watch in August and used it for hundreds of miles of trail running and racing. VO2 max has never changed from initial 45 which was "set" within a day or so of initial run.
The 'Training Status' screen on the watch says "no status". Also says: "run outdoors with heart rate twice to see your status".
Garmin connect VO2 max dashboard says "no data" except for a single data point on (or very near) the day I bought the watch.
I have only 1 data point from my first outdoor run after I purchased the watch. I have done 1 additional outdoor run after that and a large number of indoor treadmill runs (I live in snowy Norway). From reading different posts in this forum I understand now that VO2max does not get updated after indoor runs. Thanks for the feedback.
And neither does it get updated after trail running - you need to choose the activity type "Run" if you want Vo2Max to be updated. The explanation of this is that trail running is so inconsistent in terrain and energy exenditure that you can't base a Vo2Max value on that, if I understand it correctly.
The 4 week report shows the date of the first day of the week, averaging all the Vox2Max entries from that week. If you choose Recent in the chart of the report it doesn't give you the date. However, you do get it when showing the widget Reports on a dashboard, and then choose the Vo2Max report and configure it to show the most recent - there you will see the date from which the lastest Vo2Max value was calculcated.
I’ve had the same problem with my Felix 5, but when I went onto the garmin connect app (on an iPhone) I noticed that if you dragged down the vo2 max screen it updated. So it seems it does not automatically update, but need to be requested. Hope this helps
