HRM-Run showing run metrics but not heart rate

HNY everyone,

Did a search for this but came up blank. Appears I may have a unique problem!?

HRM-Run has stopped tracking my HR in my 920, wandering around the house the various running metrics display fine and in line with what I would expect. Only issue is that HR does not appear to be recording at all. Have tried different data fields to rule out a third party app issue, changed the battery twice and left it out to dry if there was any moisture hanging around. No change. Have also reset 920 both hard and soft resets.

Upon pairing 920 will say "HR Connected" (which is different from its usual process of saying "HR - 371994 connected") then it will revert back to the heart symbol on top left flashing as if searching initially. Metrics work fine at this point.

Suspect it's a strap issue (only got this one a month ago as old one was well used and ready for the bin), wanted to see if anyone else has encountered this, and what solutions might be available.

    I am having a similar issue. My activities are logging and being tracked, my watch is tracking my steps/sleep but the statistics are not updating. It started Friday 12/29/17 around noon eastern. I have tried just about everything. resetting and updating software mobile device and watch, computer.

    Any luck with your issue? almost sounds like the same situation.

    My issues are pretty much identical as JustinK and also started the 29th as well. I have a Vivoactive HR that I just bought, worked great for a couple of days, but has not worked since.. It appears that all of the data is still on the watch, but only certain things get updated on the app or the computer.

    Solved, unfortunately I had to factory reboot my device and and lost my data, but things seem to be working again. Hope this isn't a regular thing.

  • This is a long shot, but did you ever find a solution? I'm facing the same issue and this is the only mention of the problem I was able to find. 

  • I've gone through 3 HRM-Run devices. The typical scenario for me is that it stops recording certain aspects of my run, such as running dynamics or heart rate, but usually records something. The first 2 were replaced under warranty by Garmin.

    If not done already, I would start by replacing the CR2032 battery. Make sure to leave the battery out for 5 min, before you insert a new one. Be careful not to over-tighten the screws, as the plastic screw holes can crack. Thereby making the HRM more prone to moisture issues.

    This didn't help in my case, so I contacted support and they shipped out a replacement at no cost.

  • Ok, thanks. I'll contact support then. I live outside the US, though. 

    For me, it records the run dynamics and even the ConnectIQ power widgets work, but no heart rate. After the issue first appeared, I was able to some how get it back working, by playing with different exercise modes and re-connecting the strap. But now nothing works.
