How to get total miles for a period

I've been trying to find an easy way to get total miles for the previous 12 months (or for any other period).

Problem is the "total miles" in the reports feature shows the total miles for each month, but doesn't add them up. I'd export the activities to excel and total there, but the export function only exports what is on screen, and only loads a screen full of activities at a time. It is possible to scroll down but would take an age for a full year of activities and I'm not prepared to do that.

For a "report total miles" function this seems a bit useless.

Am I missing somthing? Thanks
  • I agree that the reports and export functionality are limited. One way to get around it (partly at least) is to export the report result. Above and to the right of the chart there is a "Export" link which will give you the data points from the graph, which you then can summarize in Excel. Not ideal, but as a workaround...
  • Use "Progress report" in the "Reports" section to get total mileage for any user-defined period.

Don't ask me about miles, though, since I don't use that unit of distance.

Thanks for suggestions - that seems to have it.

Still think a total miles report which doesn't sum up the total miles is a bit daft.
  • Maybe I'm missing something, but I can't find an option for Progress Report on mine. Is Garmin Connect in the US different than the EU? Here's what mine shows, and other than showing a nice graph, it's a bit useless for total miles for a calendar year.ciq.forums.garmin.com/.../1290395.png
  • I would love to see how many miles I have walked compared to previous years, or my miles run as well. Seems they have it for some users, but not others.

Which browser on which operating system are you using? I've tried it in both Safari and Chrome running on my Mac (OS X 10.11), and the Progress Summary feature is listed.

Also, are you able to access the Progress Summary page directly via the hyperlink I included above? (Click on the screenshot.)
  • I don't have it in my Garmin Connect either, but if you click on the Reports in the navigator you see the URL in your browser - almost. By adding an "s" to the end of the URL you get to the progress report. By clicking on ASmugDill's picture you also navigate to it.

As with all web pages, it's a matter of entering the address of where you want to go. For some reason some of us don't have a link within GC to this report, but it can be saved as a favorite and by entering the address manually. Naturally it would be more convenient if Garmin would make sure that there was a link to it in GC, for all of us.

Such as using… cough… Firefox. I vaguely remember there was much talk about it, many moons ago. Just now, when I tried Firefox on my Mac, the Progress Summary link is not listed.
  • Hey, wouldn't you know - quite right, I must have been negligent many moons ago... Or just forgot.
Too bad I'm so used to FF by now that I will oversee this small lapse in functionality. Or can we blame Garmin to not support the major browsers, it is after all second most used :p
