+1 to this problem
I realize this is old (over 4 years), but in today's world hard-coding an "8 hour sleep" is not scientifically accurate. I know that at least one competitor allows you to set your sleep goals and then measures everything from the goal, not the "bed and awake times." I know that it is healthy to go to bed the same time each night and get up the same time each morning. However, reality is rarely ideal and it makes measurements based on time inaccurate at best.
I am recent to the Garmin world and I am comparing it functionally to the competitor that I have used for years. For the most part, they work very similar but in this area, Garmin falls flat on its face.
Garmin, PLEASE rethink your sleep tracking and give us more flexibility.
Thanks for joining the chorus of Garmin users who have attempted to educate the company about healthy sleep objectives. So glad you did! Garmin seems content both not to respond to their users, or to address this significant issue. At least by posting, we’re letting fellow Garmin users know that they are not alone and that other users also understand that Garmin’s “target metrics” for sleep are totally inconsistent with Sleep Science.
