Ability to change "Sleep Goal" from 8 hours

I did some research on this and apparently the 8 hour sleep goal is hard coded in. You can change your 'normal wake/bed time' in User Settings but it does NOT change your sleep goal. I realize 8 hours is an age old standard, but not having the ability to change this is very frustrating. The only time I sleep 8 hours is when I'm sick. A lot of us live healthy lives on way less than that, thus we should have the ability to change it like we can our step goals. Thanks!
  • yep.

    "however ridiculous it may be".

In Garmin Connect Web you see: "Goal from 8h" of sleep. It´s not my goal at all. Just delete that message or make it changeable.

Same would be if you see "Goal in direction to a marathon" at every run-event. Might be interesting for some, but not for all users.

  • Configurabe Sleep Goal is now available through GCOverrides. When the customized Sleep Goal is met, you get your long awaited green checksign:

  • What’s the big deal? So you don’t get a tick if you only sleep 7 hours. Surely the important information is the quality of sleep data it reports.

  • Interesting thread... It seems a lot of people are slaves to ticking off off targets in life. Me? As others have noted, I'm much more interested in the quality of sleep I'm getting. I don't let it affect my life that it's a green tick I rarely achieve. Some of you even go so far as to lose your rag with the whole app, which I think is really good. I'm assuming while you can't get the sleep tick, you're going high on the stress score?

  • You can get partway there by implementing trux's GCO Overrides in the web Connect forum. It won't help in a mobile app but it will help on a PC. I use the overrides regularly but not for this.

  • I agree, I do not need 8 hours of sleep, would be nice to be able to change it.

  • Well purchasing a watch that measures your activity and ability to reach set goals might indicate that many users are interested in reaching those goals. So it is kind of irritating that all other goals are customizable but one isn't.

And I can change my actions so that I'll reach the other goals (walk more, exercise more, drink more) but if I am not sick, I just can't sleep for 8 hours. I wake up without alarm quite exactly after 7.5 hours of sleep, so it would make sense to set that as my sleep goal instead of the fixed 8 hours.

  • Take a look at Trux's GCO overrides thread. You can change the sleep goal there but there are a few steps to go through to get it. Also, it's only in web Connect and doesn't apply to any apps.

  • So... it’s been over 2 years since your comment and still no such feature change. Just FYI. :)

  • 100% agree with this and from a development perspective, it’s minimal effort to implement. Garmin should really have added this feature by now!?

can we please have this feature added to adjust sleep goal please...
