Vivoactive 3 notifications issue

Anyone else having issues with not getting text notifications? I have a galaxy s6 and had no problems getting text on my vivoactive hr.
I was super excited to get the vivoactive 3 since it has a reply option even if it's a preset reply. Not very happy that I rarely get one. I've checked everything as far as permissions and etc.

I just got my vivoactive 3 and had the same problem with my Galaxy S8. After power cycling the vivoactive 3 notifications started working. Give that a shot.

I found that you may need to have the notification widget on the watch enabled as one of the scrolling screens. hold tap on watch screen->settings->Widgets->Notifications. Once i added this i started receiving all notifications as normal. Hope this helps!

I had the same problem with notifications, I have just added the notifications as a widget on the scrolling screen and now is everything working.
The same way how discribed "rfratus":

LG G6 ( Android version: 7) + Vivoactive 3 (Software version: 3.50) + widget notification (added and enabled always) = no notification (of any kind).

    How to kill notification forever.
    Steps to replicate:
    • Add and enable Notification widget.
    • Receive a notification.
    • Open notification on watch and press “Reply” button.
    • At this step, the defect will be replicated. From now no notifications will be received (of any kind)

Note_Nr1: No workaround was found. Deleting and adding back notification widget didn’t help. Restarting the watch/phone also didn’t help.

Note_Nr2: The defect was replicated using 2 different software Vivoactive 3 (Software version: 3.40 & 3.50)
    And using 2 different phones: LG G6 (Android version: 7) & Samsung S8+ ( Android version: 8 )
  • My problem was not giving the apps on the phone permission to send notifications to the watch.

Try going to settings within the Garmin connect app on the phone and then Smart notifications. Select which apps are allowed to send.

I'm on an android phone and I don't know if its the same for iPhone.

Yep, I have a Fenix 5s and have the exact same problem. Garmin don't seem to want to accept it but it is affecting so many people. I have had many conversations with Garmin over this with contradicting responses. It seems to have something to do with being connected to the internet on your phone. It seems to work ok when your connected to the net and synced but once the bluetooth connection is separated and you're not connected to the net it won't work. The Fenix 5s even has wifi and yet it still doesn't work. I have finally got Garmin to investigate it for me. I believe it's the app as I had one of the earlier Vivoactive HR that came with the chest strap and that was working fine but then suddenly after I believe I updated the app it relied on the internet. I have had several different phones and still the same.I urge everyone to contact Garmin support because it is definitely a problem.

Hey all. I had the same issue and went to the connect app on the phone, selected settings, app permissions, and turned all of the permissions to on. For some reason my SMS and Contacts permissions were set to off. This resolved the issue for me. Hope this helps someone! Happy Trails!

Hi Guys, I've just gotten a vivo active 3. Using a Huawei P20 Pro as my android phone. I had an issue with receiving notifications, even with all my permissions on the connect app and watch set to "allow" . I found that the special permissions on my phone itself had restricted it. for this i had went to on my phone, settings > Apps & notifications > Apps > settings (small gear sign on the huawei) > special access > notification access.

I found my garmin connect set to off on this. Once enabled it all flooded in.

Please bare in mind this layout was for a P20 Pro, but should similiar to other android devices. And maybe a similiar method to Apple aswell.
    Thanks guys.
