Activities Widget Issue on Dashboard

Hi All
I am wondering if anyone else is having the same issue with the Activities Widget on the Dashboard page.
The last two days the map on the widget has dissappeared, as well as the segment icon, and been replaced with a heart rate graph.
Scrolling back, the map is still present for activities before the 2 days, and all is good on the full page of the activitiy
Is there anything I am doing or is the another little bug in connect?
  • Thanks for all your insight. I should change my handle to something like "MSarcasticB."

    Re: Search
Correction: not when, but long after it stopped working properly.

OK, we can agree it doesn't work, and no longer exists. I'm bummed. It was useful. I bought the device for a variety of reasons, and one of them is for metric manageability.

Re: the Map in the Dashboard Activity Widget:
Interesting rhetoric. We're all affected by the issue, and yes, it's obviously a defect that wasn't there before and therefore avoidable if Garmin had taken more care, but personally I don't see what the devastating impact on users is.

Yes, it's just another reminder of the multiple issue there are with the Web UI. But part of our power is in communication. One would hope that reporting to Garmin Support (which I have) and talking about these issues here would help get them fixed (I'm pretty sure this wasn't just a user forum, but also monitored by Garmin). You're correct it's not the end of the world, but the Map detail is much more practical in these Dashboard Widgets than the recently introduced HR data. I DO have a workflow with a Trainer that it was helpful to see those little maps and some of the data they showed. And there seems NO logical reason to have changed it. It's a GPS watch first, maps would kinda be a priority, no?

I daresay that, like myself, you aren't paying any subscription fee for the ongoing use of the cloud-based Garmin Connect service.

Um, but I did pay a premium for the device and its associated services. The Garmin Connect service/feature is an important selling point. Though I wear the watch to know metrics during an activity, my 2nd most important reason for the purchase is for the ability to save and review metrics after the fact. The problems with the site lately prevent me from doing that.

I currently can't get my Activity List to show at all.

If I try to access the Search feature from within the single Activity Widget on the Dashboard, the magnifying lens icon, I get the same error:

  • It's a GPS watch first, maps would kinda be a priority, no?
It's a priority that the GPS information is correctly captured and can be reviewed. Whether it appears in the widget on a dashboard in Garmin Connect online, or has to be brought up as an individual activity record before the map is presented, is not as much of a priority, I'd say.

I currently can't get my Activity List to show at all.
I don't doubt you're having difficulty, and I don't presume to understand or explain why. All I can say is that the Activities page is showing for me fine in Chrome, Firefox and Safari.

Map gone missing from the Activities Widget on Dashboard

I've had the same issue since 9th March 2017. The segments icon has also gone walkabout. Did anyone sort this out in 2014?

Map is missing from widget and replaced by heart rate. Having a viewable map was much better and, from reading this thread, I hope that this is an issue that Garmin is working on. Any insights or updates would be much appreciated.
  • I have had exactly the same

I posted a new thread and was directed here by Garmin. Same issue with my display. I guess they are aware of it, but it is frustrating not to know what if anything is happening with this issue.

Welcome to 2017, when being a (Internet-connected public) consumer of commercial IT products and service still does not mean one is owed access to a bug-tracking system for his/her problems and concerns, or any transperancy and visibility into another party's internal processes, priorities and work progress, in spite of so many people out there having been exposed to ideologies and/or ‘best practice’, through either open source development communities or enterprise-level IT outsourcing with strict SLA and reporting requirements.

Just to be clear, having been exposed to such ideologies and best practice, and having worked in large corporations and providers of outsourced ICT services, as a consumer myself primarily these days I don't think Joe Customer warrants having said access and visibility just for having spent money buying gadgets in the consumer electronics market.
