Why the difference?

Look at the text on the web interface, and the android app. Both are from exactly the same run.

Why the difference - which should I believe?

  • Believe Both

I would believe both. Reading the two descriptions, both are telling you this was a hard, demanding workout. One is simply cautioning you to be sure you recover fully and to only do this type of workout on an occasional basis.

The descriptions themselves I have less of an issue with, its the titles. one says "Overreaching" and the other says "highly improving". Which is it?

"Overreaching" implies that you should not really do it (you pushed harder than you should), whereas "highly improving" suggests good job - keep it up!
  • The two aren't mutually exclusive. Overreaching can lead to significant improvement, provided you don't hurt yourself in the process and set your training back instead.

True I guess, but I still don't understand why they did not just use the same text / headings on the app as on the web interface, for consistency.
  • Actually, I think the GC website only shows this description when the TE is 5.0. See also the categories in the screenshot below. So it seems the app is just assigning the wrong category. Looks like a bug to me.

  • I just tried on my phone and I am able to reproduce the issue. With a TE of 4.5 it already says 'Overreaching', while this description should only be given for a TE of 5.0.
