Personal records are not updated

My new personal records are not updated in Garmin Connect. Anyone know how I can force this.

Tnx
  • I'm experiencing the same issues mentioned in this thread i.e. PR disappearing when an activity is edited
My personal record is untouched when I edit the activity, in various ways:

  • Personal Records Within Longer Runs Deleted

    ASmugDill:

As you illustrated, Garmin Connect will preserve personal records, even when the user edits the activity, but only when the record distance is close to the total distance of the workout. Eg. the user achieves a PR for marathon distance within a 26.5 mile run. The user then retitles the name of the workout to "New York City Marathon," and Garmin Connect preserves the record. However, if the user also achieved a record for half-marathon distance during the New York City Marathon, Garmin Connect would discard the half-marathon record after editing. Same is true for a mile record achieved during a 5K or a 5K record set during a 10K. This is very frustrating when you've trained well enough to break several of your own records on race day. Remember that great 10K race when I broke my mile time? Nope!

I do not confirm. Yesterday I completed a half-marathon, setting 4 new personal records, which include fastest 1 km, fastest 1 mile, fastest 5 km and fastest half-marathon. All those records are preserved even after I edited the activity name, gear, and added a note. One thing to remember, though: You have to accept new records BEFORE doing any editing. Otherwise they will be gone (been through this yesterday and had to re-upload the activity to regain those records).

Uh, 5.87km is nowhere “close to” 5.0km for Garmin Connect to decide it is a candidate for a 5K personal record. It is my Garmin wearable device (FR235 for the run in question, although I use a FR630 these days) that told Garmin Connect the particular run contained one or more personal records and what it was (or what they were). If I wore a device that does not have the capability, say a vívosmart‑HR, then Garmin Connect would definitely not consider an uploaded activity with total distance of 5.87km for any personal records.
  • Still Not Working for Everybody

    tmk2 and ASmugDill,

Glad to hear your records are being kept, but I followed your instructions exactly today, and the records were still wiped out. I ran 7 miles with a Forerunner 220, and Garmin Connect showed records for 1mi and 5K. I went to the Personal Records page and saved both records. Then I went to the page for the activity, edited the name of the activity and added some notes (the "trophy" icon appeared on the page all the while I was editing it). I went back to the Dashboard and the records were gone.

I don't think I'm crazy. I emailed Garmin about a month ago about it. They concurred they are working on this issue and offered no solution. Also, this "feature" worked just fine for me using this device and following the same procedure for a year after I started using it. But hey, if you notice something in here I'm doing wrong, I'm open to suggestions.
  • Just to be doubly sure, I went back into the activity for my 5K personal record shown in the animation above, and added some freeform text into the Notes field. That did not remove or otherwise change my 5K personal record's association with that activity. (I also went back in a second time, by clicking on my 5K personal record, and can confirm that the new note I added was committed to the record.)
  • Ok, guys, I noticed that my records are gone after changing activity type from "RUNNING" to "STREET RUNNING".

I also noticed - being a little off-topic - that the daily steps personal record while showing the correct value shows incorrect date (one day off). All other personal records have correct dates.

I'm not doubting your report of your user experience, but I just can't reproduce the phenomenon. I managed a new 5K personal record today, and just now I went and changed its Event Type (from Uncategorized to Fitness), modified the Gear selection, edited the Activity Name, and added a Note to it in Garmin Connect online. That did not obliterate my new 5K PR.

I'm not going to fiddle with it in Garmin Connect Mobile app for Android just for the hell of it, though.
  • I had no issue loosing PRs after editing my activities but I have a question regarding..

"Personal Records are created when you upload data that closely matches one of our predetermined distances, and it's the fastest time you've ever uploaded for that distance."

for 10k my PR was 43:33 and today my FR630 recorder 9,91 with 41:50. Isn't a closely match? (I have set manually my run as a PR).
  • Confirming Trouble Source: Activity Type

Ok, guys, I noticed that my records are gone after changing activity type from "RUNNING" to "STREET RUNNING".

Hey, you're right! I did the same. I was able to edit the name, event type, gear and notes without losing the PR. Then, just as you did, I changed the activity type from "running" to "street running" and the record disappeared. Thanks for trouble shooting.
