New problem with maps showing I've run across the Atlantic in 10 minutes or so

Starting July 13th my runs have show one lap where I ran from Texas to somewhere near Angola, Africa. These do not show on Garmin Connect like this but I export from connect to TCX file and then add the history to Garmin Training center and Sportstracks. All other laps show correctly. By zooming in, the error is sometimes at the very beginning and sometimes the very end of the problem lap. The lap has been the 1st, the 4th (twice), and the 6th lap so that is not consistent. The actually place also not consistent but it is always somewhere in my neighborhood.

I'm using a forerunner 310XT which is up to date according to Garmin Express. I have my forerunner set to automatically record laps at a mile but occasionally I manually cut a lap off at half a mile if I decide to walk. The error has occurred in manual laps, automatic laps, running laps, and walking laps. I cannot find any consistency to the problem.

My real question is can I manually correct the data? Years ago, at least one computer ago maybe 2 computers ago, I found a little program online that let me open the history file and fix any errors like this. It was pretty straight forward and in this case I think I could delete the data point that shows the GPS location being off of west Africa or even change the location to back here in Texas. Does anyone remember the name of that program or know of something similar?

Any idea what I am doing to get these weird data points?? A close zoom on the map, seems to show just one bad data point each time.

I'm trying to upload 2 screen shots to show the problem. No idea if that is working or not for me.
  • I found an editor and got rid of the wrong data points showing latitude = 0 and longitude = 0. Then today after my run, I was all ready to do some more editing but I didn't get the error like I have 4 previous times. Go figure. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?

This is the one I used but somehow I got a Dutch version so it was a bit confusing as I only understand English, and a bit of French and German.

But at least my maps no longer show me running to Africa!!!
