Forerunner 910XT Troubleshooting Wireless Transfer

Former Member
Former Member
I've got a Forerunner 910XT that I've been using for a couple of years without any significant issues, and specifically have had no issues with transferring my activity data to Garmin Connect and Strava.

... as of yesterday and again today, after completing my workout, I do what I've always done and connected my device to the charging clip (which is connected to my computer via USB). Immediately the display shows the transfer in progress (as usual), but after that the data never reaches Garmin Connect OR Strava.

Can anyone suggest a possible direction for troubleshooting this sudden malfunction?

Thank you

    Op update

    UPDATE (I'm the original poster)...

So as I mentioned in one of my follow up posts, I deleted all my of my 910XT history stored on my device, and updated to the latest software version... then synced. After a test run, it appears that everything is up and running as normal. So if you guys haven't tried these steps yet, give it a go and see if that works for you. By the way... in case it matters, I'm using a MAC with OS X El Capitan. All the best!
  • Retrieve Data

Garmin Joseph - Is there a way to retrieve the data that was uploaded and transferred using ANT Agent, but is missing from the Garmin website?
  • Are users that are experiencing transfer issues using ANT Agent?

If you are still using ANT Agent, please discontinue ANT Agent and use Garmin Express (www.garmin.com/express). ANT Agent is a discontinued program and is no longer supported by Garmin Connect.

If you are experiencing transfer issues while using Garmin Express, we recommend that you contact Product Support (www.garmin.com/support). At this time, there are currently no website/server issues that would be causing users to not be able to sync their devices.

I, too, have seen problems the last two-three days.

I have not recieved any information from Garmin about the discontinuation of ANT Agent. How can this happen? Is this part of some new Customer Care Policy? I.e. not informing customers about MAJOR changes to the user's interface to Garmin?

    @DPURLIA

There is a possibility that they are still on the computer. If they are they would be in a folder that is on the computer.

    Windows:

    • Press the Windows key +R
    • Type %ProgramData% in the box
    • Click OK
    • Open the Garmin folder

You may see an ANT folder or a folder with the Unit ID and in there you may see the FIT files on the computer

    Mac OS X:

    • Open Finder
    • Click Go from the menu bar
    • Hold down the Option key on the keyboard
    • Click Library, then release the Option key
    • Open the Application Support folder
    • Open the Garmin folder

You may see an ANT folder or a folder with the Unit ID and in there you may see the FIT files on the computer

If the activity files are still on the device, you can use Garmin Express and the "Transfer All" setting on the watch to try and send the files again to the computer.

We would also recommend reaching out to Garmin Product Support for more specific troubleshooting options.

    @ALAALA,

Garmin ANT Agent was officially discontinued in early 2014 with the roll out of Garmin Express. The Modern version of Garmin Connect is not able to fully compatible with ANT Agent.

We would advise you any users that were still using ANT Agent to use Garmin Express. Garmin Express will allow you to sync your data from the watch to Garmin Connect.

    UPDATE from OP

Sorry... I had typed out an update, but apparently it didn't submit. Anyway... short answer is I got it to start working again. As I mentioned last night, I deleted ALL stored history in the device (910XT), and updated to the latest version of software before finally syncing again. The first test was a success... both Garmin Connect and Strava received the indicated transfer of data (unlike the previous two days).

    same issue.
    Garmin Forerunner 910 XT
up until 28th June all activities would sync and appear in Garmin Connect.
Since 29th June it shows as data transferring and then transfer complete, but the workouts are not showing in Garmin Connect website!
Due to number of people in this thread with the same issue, clearly an issue with Garmin Connect, either the ANT+ stick for transferring data or the Connect website.
Hope they get this sorted ASAP.

Before I install Garmin Express do I need to remove some software associated with Garmin ANT Agent from my Mac?
