Connect not picking up Segments

I am very disappointed that Garmin is not putting more effort into restoring the Segment feature in Garmin Connect. It has now been two weeks since the error was recognised by Garmin and the Garmin Connect Status page still simply reads:

"DOWN Segments
We are currently experiencing issue (sic) in processing your segment matches. We are actively investigating."

It is really annoying as it was the main reason I bought an expensive Edge device. It is now much harder to compare my progress while I am training plus I do not want to be pushed into paying for an expensive Strava Premium upgrade just because Garmin can't be bothered to fix something that was supposed to be free.

Anyone else fed up?:mad:

    agree that it is very frustrating. I thought it was a problem with my gps until I was directed to this thread. main reason I bought this was for this feature.
  • Before thinking you have an issue check the status page http://connect.garmin.com/en-US/status

    There is also a link to this page on the Connect page. Just click on Status :)

    Great news. Haven't been following the issue long enough to know if this has been promised before, but sure would be nice.

    Gotta love it when a major feature of a $330 watch is simply broken. And don't tell me to go use Strava. If I wanted to just go use Strava, it would've been part of my decision-making process on the $330 purchase. I assumed all advertised features would work.

  • Still no segments

    As near as I can tell, still no segments. As a protest, I am not buying the new Garmin gear I have been eyeing. Was going to upgrade from the Edge 510 to the 520. My wife is looking at the Forerunner 235, but I will wait to see if they can fix this. I did just pay for a year of Premium Strava, and the segments do work there, but it's difficult to download all my activities. The CopyMySports tool only grabbed a couple events. I like the Garmin Connect format better than the Strava also.

    Just as an update, I checked my activities on Strava tonight and they had all been downloaded from Garmin Connect. The segments seem to work on Strava and I was even able to create a new one that worked also. I will go to the CopyMySports website and make a donation.
  • Segments still not recognized!

    What an incredibly lame company with an even more incompetent management which transitioned to a system, that doesn't work.
    The managers of this company obviously don't use their own products! No wonder that shorting GRMN has been working beautifully. Carl Icahn should take over and fire them with all bonuses to be paid back.

    segments still not working

    Today I got an answer from the service dept. They stated the problem is known, but could´t tell when the issue will be resolved. It took them 9 days for an answer like this. Considering this: Segments are lost ;-(

    Fed Up

    I have just sent the following to Garmin's Customer Services and an appropriately amended version to BBC Click...

    I am writing to enquire as to why Segments have been switched off (https://connect.garmin.com/en-US/status).

    It has been like this for quite a few months and as you can see by the Garmin Connect forum that’s been created because of this issue (https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?340149-Connect-not-picking-up-Segments), it’s causing lots of disappointment amongst users (this is the German forum https://forum.garmin.de/showthread.php?64644-Segmente-Funktion-quot-futsch-quot).

    Furthermore, Garmin are marketing their GPS cycling products as having the segments facility, but are not providing it, so are currently selling their products under false pretences (because it has been many months!).

    On contacting customer support about this problem, despite telling them that I am an experienced user, they still make you waste lots of time checking settings and making sure software is up to date - even though they know there is a problem!
    Eventually they reply "I'm afraid that we do not currently have a fix for this issue, however we are currently investigating this issue to get this resolved."

    Us end users cannot get any answers from customer services so please pass this on to someone in authority and ask them as to when Segments are likely to be working again, it really would be appreciated.

  • Some days ago Connect suffered a downtime... I thought that they were fixing the Segments issue but... nothing has happened.

    3 months without this feature. Horrible.
