Time in Heart Rate Zones

Anyone know how to view time spent in each heart rate zone during a workout? If it isn't available, Garmin should add this feature into the next Garmin Connect update.

Time in HR zone (bar chart) different from Stats HR zones data

    Hi!

In Garmin Connect, while viewing an individual activity it presents the same data in two different ways. It may also be presented in the same manor on the 920XT, but i'm not 100% certain. While, viewing an individual activity under the Stats tab (far left) my HR zone data (Avg, Max, and training effect) coordinate accurately with HR zones I inputed in the Settings. However, when you click the Time in Zone tab with colored bar chart (far right) the data presented does align with the Stats tab. The Time in Zone presented is skewed upwards, providing a much higher HR rate than actually occurred.

I attempted to upload photos, but i'm not sure it worked.

Thanks. Any feedback would be great,

    Kurt

Which version of GC are you using? PC, Android, ios? Because mine on PC doesn't have near as much as yours. Perhaps it's because I'm using FR70 which does not tell time in zones on watch itself, or is it maybe because I'm using PC version of GC.

I definitely think what you see on Connect is tied to the model of hardware you have. I have a 235 and while I can see a lot (cadence, stride length, HR zones, etc), there are certain things I can't see that others with higher models can (ground contact time comes to mind). And when I used to use an Oregon for my hikes, I didn't have any of that stuff.

However, that's a far cry from what OP posts about. His Polar device captures HR info, so clearly that info is there. What's the missing link to compute the data, Garmin? His HR zones? Can't those easily be defined in Connect and not on the device?

There seems to be a lot more dependency on the model of Garmin hardware you have than there should be. It's a shame, because in Connect, Garmin has built a useful training tool. However, it's actually more open than something like Polar Personal Trainer, which doesn't even allow activity importing AT ALL. You HAVE TO capture the activity with a Polar device.
  • Time in heart rate and power zones

I have been in contact today with Garmin about not showing time in zones for HRT and Power in Garmin Connect by using the the EDGE 810. But when I use my Fenix 3 the option is there. The lady at Garmin could not answer the question and agreed with me that there is no reason. She has contacted USA programming to find out why? So it looks like its set up to which device you have which is very bad of Garmin as they take your money and run.

You don't play SS2 by any chance, do you?

I disagree. You bought a device that never supported the feature to begin with, the list of features and the price were known at the time of the purchase, and it was a commercially fair exchange in which you voluntarily participated.

I agree with Dill. Garmin doesn't hide the fact that they're the sort of company that could enable server-side processing of this information for anyone owns a device that has this feature enabled as a sales point, but choose not to in favour of trying to up-sell you to their latest buggy device.

You're free to sell your Garmin device and not purchase another one, as I would recommend to people who ask me about these types of device.

http://www.wahoofitness.com/ make some nice devices, http://www.goldencheetah.org/ is an open-source cross-platform analysis tool that you might find useful.

If I ever need to replace a Garmin device I know I'll be doing this.
