Cannot pair iPhone 6 with vivoactive

I cannot establish a bluetooth connection between my iPhone 6 and my vivoactive. Strangely I was able to connect the two when I first set up my vivoactive, then the connection disappeared and no matter what I do (updated firmware, deleted and re-installed app on phone, deleted device from Garmin Express then re-added it, etc etc) with no success. I am trying to pair the device via the Garmin Connect Mobile app, not through the bluetooth connect settings on the phone. At one point the vivoactive showed up on the bluetooth connection screen of the iPhone, but it would never connect. Now it does not even show up as a possible connection. It does not matter what sequence I try it simply does not work. Very frustrating. Is this a known issue? If it is I would like to hear from a Garmin tech as to when they expect a fix. I want to be able to use this watch for golfing in addition to biking, running, and swimming. You need a bluetooth connection for the golf app to work. Additionally, I cannot remove the vivoactive from the Garmin Connect Remote app on my iPhone.

I had this issue but realised that I had my old phone next to me which was still attached to my vivoactive.
I had already told my iPhone 4s to forget the device but did not turn off the Bluetooth on the 4s. It would not connect. Then I turned off the Bluetooth on the iPhone 4s and tried to connect to the iphone6 and it worked first time!
