Cannot pair iPhone 6 with vivoactive

I cannot establish a bluetooth connection between my iPhone 6 and my vivoactive. Strangely I was able to connect the two when I first set up my vivoactive, then the connection disappeared and no matter what I do (updated firmware, deleted and re-installed app on phone, deleted device from Garmin Express then re-added it, etc etc) with no success. I am trying to pair the device via the Garmin Connect Mobile app, not through the bluetooth connect settings on the phone. At one point the vivoactive showed up on the bluetooth connection screen of the iPhone, but it would never connect. Now it does not even show up as a possible connection. It does not matter what sequence I try it simply does not work. Very frustrating. Is this a known issue? If it is I would like to hear from a Garmin tech as to when they expect a fix. I want to be able to use this watch for golfing in addition to biking, running, and swimming. You need a bluetooth connection for the golf app to work. Additionally, I cannot remove the vivoactive from the Garmin Connect Remote app on my iPhone.

Same problem here with iPhone 6+

Exactly the same here. Perfect pairing with my iPhone 6 for the first week. Then after the software first update to 2.50, have not been able to reestablsh it. Is this a garmin or an apple problem and is it any better with the f3 or the 920xt?
  • I find the same. I thought it was the watch to start with and returned it for another watch as it also hung on a settings screen. But the new watch also keeps dropping it's bluetooth connection with my iphone 6 and I'm having to reset the complete watch to reestablish the link - not great when I then need to go in and personalise all the settings again. It appears there is a bluetooth connection issue with the vivoactive watch connecting with iphone.

Please can Garmin provide some sort of answer or steerage on when you are looking to address this. Thanks very much.

I have just had issues with my Vivoactive. Battery died on me, was no in GPS mode. I re charged, then it wouldn't connect to either my HRM or Garmin Connect. The Garmin connect app is now stuck loading on my phone. Vivoactive does not have a Bluetooth symbol either. I contacted the support at Garmin but as usual no answer. How do I send my watch back?

I have had mine for around 10 weeks and had exactly same experience
I really hope that Garmin tech can fix this, as the hardware is superb.
My VA sometimes seems to pair sometimes in that I receive messages
And call notifications, even when the watch is apparently not-paired.

Hi All, I am having the same issue with my iPhone5, very frustrating. Are there tips that users can give me? It seems this issue comes up quite a bit. Currently waiting on Garmin Tech Support to find a solution -

beyond frustrating. i have tried just about everything - the watch (vivoactive) says it is paired, and garmin connect see's it, but says pairing has failed due to server error. i am still getting my notifications on the watch, however. please advise.

Same exact problem here. I am returning it unfortunately.
  • Same here vivoactive and iphone 6plus
  • Vivosmart Pairing with iPhone 5

An android user had posted to uninstall the Garmin App, restart the phone, reinstall the App then sync it. I was having the same issue connecting my new Garmin and I followed those steps and it synced with no issue. Kind of strange to have to do that but it worked. It may work with the iPhone 6 as well. Good luck!
