Uploads using app have incorrect time data and start time

Hi All,

I have a Garmin Edge 510 and since 9th December have found uploads to Garmin Connect have the start time 11 hours later than the ride start time. Time zone in Garmin Connect website is correct and start time is correct on the Edge. The other thing is that Time, Moving time and Elapsed Time all have the same data which is blatantly wrong.

Today I tested uploading using Garmin Express on a computer and the ride uploaded fine with correct start time and also correct times for the the different time categories. This implies to me that the Garmin Connect iOS app has an issue. So as a test I edited today's ride name with the iOS app, it then synchronised the three times, and it also moved the start time to 11 hours later. There clearly is something wrong with the Garmin Connect iOS app for some users, because in other parts of the forum others are commenting on incorrect start times.

Has anyone else found this issue is happening to them? I only noticed it because the 11 hour start time shift moves an afternoon ride to the next day.

Garmin need to investigate this issue with the app. If anyone has a fix I'd love to know. I've deleted and reinstalled the app, no change.

In short, it appears the IOS app is taking your timezone offset from your garmin connect profile and when the app uploads the new data, it is applying the offset to the ios time being sent. Problem is, is that ios takes into account your timezone when showing the time (obviously, or your phone would be very annoying to use) and when the data it uploaded, the ios garmin app applies the timezone offset again, hence why folks are seeing these weird times. For instance, I am eastern time zone and my activities were always 5 hours in the past.

One workaround is when you do an activity is to sync via garmin express (make sure to turn off bluetooth on your garmin device or phone when you want to sync the activity). Annoying yes, but will provide a workaround for now.

This is a very easy programming fix tbh, probably would take them a day to test and figure it out.

But this is Garmin we are talking about, they will do it when they feel like they want to, and without any priority for highly annoying bugs that are low hanging fruit to fix.

    Hello All,

Well I can now say that after the last mobile app update on my iPhone 5S, the problem has been sorted out.

Once I have completed my ride and it has been uploaded to my phone, I can go into the mobile app on the phone and edit it. If I then go on the internet and log on to GC and look at my activities, the start time of my ride is correct.

    So all sorted.

    Thanks Garmin.

    Basil.
