Uploads using app have incorrect time data and start time

Hi All,

I have a Garmin Edge 510 and since 9th December have found uploads to Garmin Connect have the start time 11 hours later than the ride start time. Time zone in Garmin Connect website is correct and start time is correct on the Edge. The other thing is that Time, Moving time and Elapsed Time all have the same data which is blatantly wrong.

Today I tested uploading using Garmin Express on a computer and the ride uploaded fine with correct start time and also correct times for the the different time categories. This implies to me that the Garmin Connect iOS app has an issue. So as a test I edited today's ride name with the iOS app, it then synchronised the three times, and it also moved the start time to 11 hours later. There clearly is something wrong with the Garmin Connect iOS app for some users, because in other parts of the forum others are commenting on incorrect start times.

Has anyone else found this issue is happening to them? I only noticed it because the 11 hour start time shift moves an afternoon ride to the next day.

Garmin need to investigate this issue with the app. If anyone has a fix I'd love to know. I've deleted and reinstalled the app, no change.

I am having the exact same problem. It's particularly annoying as it shifts my afternoon rides and runs into the next day.

It is doing this with both my Edge 510 and Forerunner 620, so it seems to be a GC problem, particularly iOS.
  • I'm having the exact same issues when uploading from 920xt..

the activities upload fine, with correct information, but when edited in the IOS app I get the following problems

    - activity start time moving by timezone ie 11 hours for activities without GPS (Pool Swims, Indoor Cycle) after edit in Garmin Connect App.
    - time, moving time, elapsed time all being set to the same values.
  • There are a few of us reporting the same issue in the Garmin Connect section of the forum.

    https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?172836-Time-of-Workout-is-not-correct&p=465948#post465948

In my case, using a FR620, I get an 8 hour offset (earlier) from my current PST zone (i.e. if I run at 6PM, it changes the activity to 10A the same day). This seems to only happen if the activity is edited and saved in the GC iOS app. If I simply upload via WiFi and only edit the activity in my laptop's browser, I'm all good.

Having the same issue with my 510. Start time of ride is recordered as local time + 11 hrs ahead of gmt, so 07:40 + 11:00 = 18:40.

I certainly did not go for the ride at 18:40 in the evening !

    Hmm.

When I contacted Garmin for help on this, this is what they suggested I do to sort it out :-

"Hi Basil, Thank you for contacting Garmin Australasia! Sorry for the inconvenience.
To prevent this from happening, pair the device with the computer through Garmin Express prior to performing any activities. The internal clock will be synchronized with the computer’s clock. If you have further questions, you can reach Garmin Product Support on AUS 1 800 235 822 or NZ 0 800 427 652. Best Regards, Garmin Australasia Service Team t 1800 235 822 (AU) / 0800 427 652 (NZ) | e [email protected] | w www.garmin.com.au 30 Clay Place | Eastern Creek | NSW | 2766

    What the !!!

The time on the 510 is showing the correct local time as well as my iPhone. So why do I have to connect the 510 to my pc to sync the internal clock first, before I do an activity ? I checked my activity history on the 510 and all the start times listed there are correct as well.

Yesterday I synced the ride with connect on the pc and then modified the details in connect on the pc and the start time was then recorded correctly. So there is definitely a problem with the app on the iPhone.

I'll reply to their email telling them where to start to look to sorting out the problem !!

    Thanks.

    Definitely the apps problem!

I have respectively tried three difference devices I'm using, viz 510, Fenix 2 & Vivosmart, all carries the same problem. Just don't understand why Garmin still not fix this for the past 2 months!

Wow, you got a response from them. After two emails in the last month and the promise of a reply "within 3 business days", nothing for me.
