Airpods connect/disconnect to iPhone

I recently got a Fenix 8 47 mm AMOLED and really love it HOWEVER, for some reason my Airpods have stopped working with my iphone. I do not want to connect the airpods to the watch and haven'r done so eather, but not when I want to use the airpods with my phone, they keep connecting and disconnecting instantly. I know its the garmin watch / app spooking because they work perfect when the watch is disconnected. 

I have also tried resetting the airpod connection with my iphone but with the same results.

Anyone else experienced this and know how to solve it? 

  • Can people experiencing this issue check whether the Garmin Connect app is trying to send a software update to the watch when it happens?

    The issue occurred for me again yesterday evening. When I checked Garmin Connect (More -> Garmin Devices), I noticed a loading bar and a "Sending Software Update" message. After disabling automatic software updates, the issue stopped.

    Up until then, I hadn't been able to reproduce the problem consistently. I've now re-enabled automatic updates and will monitor whether the issue returns, and if Garmin Connect is once again attempting to send an update when it does.

    i believe that is more than 2 month s now since i have this issue with my garmin watch.

    So to be clear i have an Iphone 15 pro on 26.5 , fenix 7 pro solar on 26.09 and airpods pro on 8b41 for now everything is up to date.

    1. if i wear just the watch and phone all are good and fine.

    2. When i plug the airpods here starts the issues . right away garmin connect loses connection with the watch but fenix keep receiving notification and alerts(conected disconected).

    3. Garmin connect did not see any connected devices even after alerts (connect disconnect)

    4.the only way to get watch works fine with the phone is:

    1.remove the airpods  

    2.toggle off Bluetooth in settings (NOT IN DROP DOWN MENU)

    3.toggle on Bluetooth

    this thing works until next time i wear the airpods!

    all those unpair, remove app, add, pair did not work at all. Seems that is an interference in Bluetooth channels between watch airpods and phone.

    Looks like will have to wait for an software update either from garmin either for apple.....

  • I don’t know if this will help anyone, and Im sure this is not a one size fits all problem, but I was having this same issue on my brand new Fenix 8. 
    AirPods continually connecting and reconnecting. Rebooting my phone would help somewhat but then the issue would start again. 
    I then caught a rare moment where my phone was trying to connect to my Apple Watch in Bluetooth settings when the issue was happening.

    I had moved from an Apple Watch to Garmin. The Apple Watch was powered off but my phone kept trying to connect to it and then my AirPods would go into the loop.

    So I unpaired the Apple Watch from my iPhone and the connection to AirPods have been steady for a couple of weeks now.

  • I've just bought my 265. Paired with iphone pro 14. I also experienced the same problem with airpods pro 2's. I tried many things to solve the issues but none of them worked. Finally i uninstalled connect app (including the background files), reset the watch. Now they all work in sync... hopefully they will continue work peacefully. ;)

  • I've tried three different headphones and bought two different iphones (works on android) and headphones works perfectly fine until I do calls, then they start to disconnect and reconnect. Has been like this sice Feb and I was starting to go mad before I found this thread. Please fix this ASAP!

  • I am getting this happen with a new tactix 8 Solar. Watch is connected to iPhone 14 with latest firmware. airpods connect to phone fine. When i open the connect app, the airpods connect and disconnect every second. If I close the app, all is good.

    Has this issue been resolved  ? I just purchased a Fenix 8 47 mm AMOLED today and encountered the same issue of repeated disconnect/reconnect of my airpods pro. Please advise on how to fix. Thanks

  • Brand new 570 out of the box today to replace my older 245.  ipod pros immediately disconnect after connecting to the phone. i noticed this only happens with the connect app is open though. if i close the app i can pair and use ipods normally. still shouldnt do that and for sure didnt happen on my old watch.
