BUG - Garmin Connect Sync erasing training load ratings in apple health - Sync overwriting activities each time

Everytime I sync my garmin in garmin connect, it resends the activity data to apple health, overwriting what was previously there. This results in any training load ratings for the same activities in apple health being overwritten, rendering training load tracking in apple health essentially useless. The syncing of activities from garmin connect to apple health needs to be limited, so activities are not being overwritten over everytime, but rather sent over once. The issue is not on apple's end but rather with connects syncing algorithm.

  • Same here. I have a index bpm and only last measure each days I stuck in apple health rest is erased. This is really bad by connect

  • If you have any other third party activity or data tracking app synced with Garmin Connect and Apple Health that could be causing it to duplicate the data.

  • no nothing. this is just sync from connect to apple health. so you really mean that you not know about this problem? it i so obvious and many people have this problem. As soon as you syn activity or bloodpressure it deletes old sync and sync new data for the last couple of days

  • Would be interested in whether this is being considered for investigation or not. Major annoyance and should be a straightforward fix. We have to go back daily to continuously add PE in Apple Heath until you get past the rewrite cutoff rule. For those who workout everyday, you can imagine the frustration we are feeling.

  • yes this is really embarrassing by Garmin or they really can't do it correct.

Other companies do it correctly. Maybe that is why Garmin have so many bugs, their software engineer is not good

  • Came here to say I’m having the same problem. It’s really annoying to go back and throw a rating on previous rides just so it doesn’t kill my overall tracking.

Is this something that’s just started happening? I recently got an Explore 2 a couple weeks ago so it’s my only experience (which isn’t great).

  • Hi there, If you are having issues with Connect deleting data from third party websites, here is a great troubleshooting article: Data From My Activity Does Not Match Between Garmin and a Third-Party Site

If the issue still persists, please provide the activity type that you are trying to send to the third party app.

  • The issue is 2 parts.

    1. Connect does not sync or send effort rating to the Apple Fitness app.

    2. Since it doesn’t sent that information, I will rate the ride within Apple Fitness app but the next time Connect syncs a ride to Apple Fitness, it will erase all ratings from every Connect ride in Apple Fitness which now means at this point I have to go back and add an effort rating to 13 rides so far in Apple Fitness and that number will only grow.

Either send the Perceived Effort and have it write to Apple Fitness or don’t do whatever is erasing the effort from all previous ratings.

  • That’s spot on. Seems to go back ~14 days worth of workouts. Literally every time Connect is opened and syncs, it’s overwriting previously saved PE data in Apple Health. There needs to be a write once rule unless we request more data to be sent out of Connect.

  • what are you talking about? We are talking sync from Garmin Connect too apple health! Every time we sync connect it owerwrites data from connect!

If if do two reading of blood pressure only the last will stay in Apple health, the first one from morning gets owerwritten!
