April Intense Cardio badge

I'm not making any progress towards the April Intense Cardio challenge, which requires you to record 3 hours of cardio in zone 3. I've recorded two runs, one of which was almost entirely in zone 3, but the status bar is still showing 0 minutes completed. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here?

  • Why not just log it as the correct type from the start?

  • I don't really want to get in a debate about this (I'm regretting having posted my thoughts now) but the UX of a breathwork activity is completely different from the UX of a meditation activity.

  • Yes? That is the point of the different activity types. Breathwork is breathwork and meditation is meditation. They are not the same activities.

I understand now that you count your breathwork as meditation. Why not do breathwork AND meditation? Two activities.

  • Since the badge is called INTENSE Cardio, the word Intense to me does imply that Zone 4+ should also be counted.

Putting that aside, I think the goal of the badge to stay in Zone 3 does make sense. You build your Aerobic Base by doing long workouts in Zone 3.

I just finished the bike challenge of 4 hours in Power Zone 3 and that resulted in 3.5 hours in Heart Rate Zone 3. Afterwards I felt fabulous. My Run a day later was so easy. I plan on doing the 40K rides in Zone 3.

I'm doing this badge as Peloton Power Zone Endurance rides that are in Power 2-3 which gets me to HR Z3. Since Peloton refuses to broadcast power, or other data, to Garmin what my watch records is not much, so I have no problem with it as type cardio.

  • Hi . I really don't want to get into a debate why I prefer to do what I do. Like I said I'm regretting posting my thoughts now because I'm being told I'm wrong.

  • I did 55 minutes of intense cardio and earned 7 minutes toward the badge?!?! I think the issue is that this badge should be zone 3 and above instead of making us keep it at zone 3 because there's no way to monitor that very well as we are doing the cardio workout.
