April Intense Cardio badge

I'm not making any progress towards the April Intense Cardio challenge, which requires you to record 3 hours of cardio in zone 3. I've recorded two runs, one of which was almost entirely in zone 3, but the status bar is still showing 0 minutes completed. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here?

  • You must log it with the Cardio profile. Running or any other activity type will not work. You can change the type of the run to cardio, but then the run will not count for running challenges.

  • With which Cardio Profile? I did 1h of HIIT, and that didn't count either for the cardio badge, nor for the April Gains challenge...not sure what I have to select as training for the cardio badge and why does HIIT not count as strength activity...

  • There is a profile called "Cardio". Just like HIIT, Running, Cycling, Strength and so on.

For the cardio challenge you must log it as "Cardio".

For the gains challenge you must log it as "Strength".

For each challenge the correct type must be used unless it isn't for a specific type like the Active April challenge where all types count.

If you don't have those profiles on the watch then you can change the type in Garmin Connect after you've saved and synched the activity.

  • "Cardio" should apply to any activity. Garmin fix this.

  • It isn't a bug or error. Just log it as Cardio. Garmin will not change it.

  • Running IS cardio and should be classified as such.  I understand this badge is tracking “as designed”, meaning you must log the activity as “cardio”, but that doesn’t mean it’s accurate or correct.

I track annual mileage, elevation gain, etc.  Changing a running activity to cardio negatively affects my running stats.

Garmin SHOULD change this to track all cardio forms of activity to count toward this Premium/Garmin+ badge, but they won’t.

  • My point exactly. If I'm paying for Garmin+, I expect common sense definitions to apply. Trial may just be a trial. I too track yearly running stats and don't want to switch between several profiles. I already have to do that with walking (can't you tell by my speed if I'm running or walking Garmin...)

  • Oh, I’m not paying for this after the month trial is up.  It’s ridiculous tbh, and no badges should be pay to play.  All they have done is splinter the user base.

There is nothing included in + that merits a paywall.  The only thing that comes even close is the improved dashboards,  but I can get that info elsewhere.

Anyway, I’m off topic here.  My bad.

You can change your activities to Cardio, get the badge and then change back to the type it was before. Challenges with progress will stick even if you change the type back afterwards.

  • Sorry, but that's dumb and cheating....
