There is an issue with adding activities to your watch using the app (on android phones), which was reported a while ago - Can't Add Activity through Connect Mobile on Android
It sounds like your issue is different. Possibly the app is crashing and closing out. Can you describe the steps you take to "add activities" up to the point where it jumps to the iPhone screen? Also, which version of the app are you running? Check it in the app - more > settings > version. There was an update to v4.74.3 a few days ago. Thanks.
Update to Garmin Connect app version 4.74.3.1 and let us know if you continue to have this issue.
