Can't Add Activity through Connect Mobile on Android

I have been experiencing an issue since the 15.xx beta and now with the 15.74 live where I can't add any activities or apps to the watch through the Connect app on my phone. It gives an error message "Unable to Update Settings" every time I try. I have restarted the phone, cleared the cache, restarted my watch, and nothing seems to work.

  • Also, my Fenix 7X has Triathlon(2) and Swimrun(2) under multi-sport when adding activities on the watch. However, the original Tri and Swimrun activities are under running and swimming menus rather than the multi-sport menu. Not sure if it's related to a bug for this issue.

  • After adding Tri(2) to the watch, attempting to edit in GCM causes issues when attempting to restore default settings for the activity.

I get that message only if I use the "Add" icon at the bottom of the screen. When I use "Edit" at the top of the screen, I can add or remove activities without any issues.

I'm on 15.74 and Garmin Connect android v4.73.3.

  • That's the same issue I'm having. I'm able to edit and rearrange activities, but can't add any new ones.

  • I can add new activities without problems using the edit, then click the plus sign next to one of the activities listed under the "more activities & apps" section.

  • I don't have a problem adding activities from the more activities and apps section. That section contains all of the apps on my device that I don't have set as a "favorite." If I decide I want to add a new activity to the device, I'd have to use the "add" button that isn't working.

  • Understood. I would just do it on the watch and/or open a case with Garmin Product Support.

  • I tried reporting it as a bug while the software was still in Beta but it didn't get any traction. I wanted to post it here to see if anyone else was seeing the issue or had a quick fix.

Thank you for the help and confirming it's not just something with my device. I'll submit the info to product support.

  • Thanks, I'll also report this.

I'm sorry you're having that issue, and thank you for the information you provided. I was able to recreate what you were seeing on my own device. I'd like to get a bit more information from you, so that I can forward this on to our app team for resolution.

I've sent them a diagnostic report from the app, screenshot, and phone model and android version information.

And within minutes received a follow-up response.

Thank you for that information and for bringing this to our attention. I don't have an estimate for when this will be fixed but it will likely come as an update to the app.

Thank you and have a great day,

Update: It's been a while since I've tried this. Appears to be working correctly now.
