Apple Health Activity Ring does not fill after workout is completed on a Garmin device (Request for improvement on how Garmin Connect writes data to Apple HealthKit SDK)

Hello, I use my Garmin Fenix 6 for all my workouts and my Apple Watch 7 for daily use. When completed a workout, Garmin Connect synchronizes with Apple Health. Apple Health sees the workout data but does not fill the activity ring. Could anyone provide a solution to this? I see its a common problem among Garmin - Apple users. Garmin, please take care of this!! Thank you!

  • Given the architecture of their Garmin Connect, it isn't just an "easy fix" .. there is soooooo much wrong and it will require a rethink in how they push data to Apple Health. I'd rather they spend some time thinking it through (which they obviously didn't do before) and get it right than to rush something. Testing will be important. Failure to properly address this will just result in more corrupt data .. something none of us want!

  • I've resorted to wearing my Ultra more. Managing a bunch of 3rd party apps isnt much fun but at least I get what I want, where I want and everything is more reliable.

  • I agree but if they have to think this long about it than they need to hire new developers. If they got the exercise to work properly than the other two rings should be a piece of cake, or i would think it follows the same programing. Anyway i guess we can hope for a fix some time in the near future,

    1. What Apple device do you own and what is the current sw? (We realize this is not relevant to the functionality.) - I have an Apple Watch 8 sw 9.1
    2. What Garmin device do you use as your current (Preferred) activity tracker? - I have a Forerunner 945
    3. May we have permission to access your Garmin Connect account? - Yes
    4. May we have permission to email you? - yes
    5. In what country do you live? - USA
  • First of all, it’s embarrassing that a company of Garmins size is creating a petition on a forum to implement basic functionality. Jeez.

Please read before you accuse. Garmin didn't make the petition. A member of the community did to aid in persuasion.

  • With all due respect, the member is representing the company as Kevin, Product Support @ Garmin International, therefore I feel it's safe to assume he has been given the mandate to represent Garmin Intl. on public forums. Due to this, I would rather see this account as a legal person than an individual. Also, to prevent misunderstanding - I would never criticize him as a person for doing his job.

  • Actually - anyone can make one if they want to see change with someone. Feel free to browser petitions here: https://www.change.org/

  • I'm not talking about that petition, but rather Garmin-Kevin's in-forum petition, including those 5 questions.
