Traning Status not updating from Zwift

Hello,

I've been experiencing some difficulties with Training Status in the Garmin Connect in the past week.

I cycle on Zwift (power + HR belt) and would turn on my Edge 830 to update the status previously. It worked well for the past two weeks, but it stopped on November 14th.

My Edge syncs with Garmin Connect after the activity has been uploaded by zwift, but training status is not updating. It shows "no status". "Load Focus", "Exercice Load" and "7-Day Load" work well and are updated. Only the training status is not displayed.

I have performed 6 activities since but to no success. I have version 4.49 of Garmin Connect (updated on November 11th).

Anyone else is experimenting similar issue?

  • To get a training status you must have at least two VO2 max values logged in the past week. The training status seems to stay for a little longer even without VO2 max values, but you will need those VO2 max values from time to time. Zwift will not give you any VO2 max values. Only training load.

  • Thank you both for your help.

@Garmin-Kevin, in the link you pasted:

"Cycling can take place indoors or outdoors, but the rides must be done using a power meter and with recorded heart rate data"

and also, on the page linked:

"To process Training Status data from the Tacx Training app or a supported third-party activity, Garmin Connect must sync the activity data with your compatible device. To accomplish this, your compatible device must be powered on and fully synced to ensure that all data has been processed and your Training Status is up to date. Exercise load data from the Tacx Training app or third-party activities will be visible in your Training Status reports, but it will not be visible in your activity details. If using a compatible Edge device, you must sync your device twice for an updated Training Status to display in Garmin Connect.

When using the Tacx Training app or a supported third-party app, you must record them with heart rate for exercise load to be calculated, and with power data for cycling VO2 max to be calculated."

So... no training status even if I fill those requirements? I'm note sure I understand why.. I have a garmin device, I synchronize it with Garmin Connect and my activity is recorded with power and HR data on a supported app (Zwift).

  • So that I may assist you further, please reply with the following:

    1. May we, if necessary, have permission to email you?
    2. May we, if necessary, have permission to view/access your Garmin Connect account?
    3. In what country do you live?
  • 1. Of course

    2. Please do

    3. Canada

  • I am also experience a similar issue with the same setup. I own a Edge 530 and 5X Plus.

  •  and  have you both synced your Edge devices twice recently, after the Zwift activities have been uploaded to Garmin Connect?

Training Status is generated on the Edge device, so the Zwift activity/activities need to be sent FROM Garmin Connect TO the Edge unit on the first sync.  The Edge unit will then re-calculate your Training Status.  To send that re-calculated Training Status FROM the Edge device TO Garmin Connect, you will need to sync the Edge unit once more (the second sync).

  • Yes but upon reading further it seems I need to record a fresh ride with power and HR on my edge and/or 5x plus before I start getting Zwift training status. Will try tonight with a dual record then go back to Zwift only after.

  • Yes, it is synced multiple times. Slight smile

  • Was it fixed with a dual record?
