Resting heart rate, adjust after a while in the morning?

I have noticed that when i get upp up in the morning, my resting heart rate, after sync, have changed slightly since the day before.
Nothing strange there of course. But usually it changes one more time within an hour. And then never again that day?

Today for instance, i had 52 yesterday, i had 60 in the first adjustment after sync this morning. And now one hour later 55.
Anyone noticed this? i have sleep/bed hours set between 22-06

  • My understanding is this is a 24 hour reading so the current day’s resting heart rate will change over the day as you rest and as you are inactive.  It won’t give the actual firm 24 hr reading until 24 hours is up.  It doesn’t use your sleep hours, but you’ll see if you look at prior days it starts at 12:00am and then continues for 23 hours.

  • I’m not sure it’s like that.
I think I’ve read that resting heart rate is during sleep. If you have it on during sleep.

it has never changed other than sometimes in the first hour. Never during the day.

  • Hmm, well I could be wrong, I can’t find it in the manual either way.  I’m going to go work out, I’ll see if my RHR goes up after I work out.  Its gone up since I got out of bed this morning.

  • During night:

Ok that established. :) But why a slight adjustment whit in the first hour of the day after I get up, and as far as I’ve seen so far, only down?

  • Yeah I just had found that same article.  Hmm, not sure, mine does seem to change though too.  It is strange when you look at the corresponding HR graph it only starts at 12:00 AM and my sleep hours are set from 11:00-8:00.

And I swear mine shows higher during the day I’m looking at it and then when I look back at it the next day its quite a bit lower.  I’m going to keep my eye on this today.

  • Do you wear your watch during night then?

  • Ok, so its like I thought.  It was 68 all day and now at 9:30 pm when I checked it again it had dropped to a resting heart rate of 65.  I’ve been watching TV for a couple of hours and am wondering if it takes into account all time periods without steps and not just night time?  There would be no reason it would have dropped.  I’ll let you know what it shows tomorrow when I look back today.

I hope someone from Garmin would get in on this thread because something isn’t quite right.

  • Ok strange, mine doesn’t behave like that at all? I have have the FR945 by the way.

I’ll se if I can send the question to garmin, it would be fun to know how it works.

My resting heart rate for today when my watch synced this morning, 55, but within an hour, it adjusted down to 54.

  • Ok, so mine settled at 63 for yesterday, so it must be counting the time while I sit also....this morning it shows 66, will see if it drops later today also.  I have the Venu SQ.

I posted a question in the Venu SQ forum, hopefully I’ll hear from someone.
