Connect app hangs or crashes since last update

Since four days ago the Garmin Connect app on my iPhone SE (1st gen, iOS 13.6.1) either hangs (it shows the running person icon) or crashes when I start it. I tried to restart the phone, but the issue persists.

Yesterday I deleted the app and reinstalled it, which initially solved the issue. However it worked only for a day, since this morning I am back to hanging and crashing ...

I tried to contact Garmin support, but the German email support form does not seem to work. I enter everything, press send, there is a short animation with three buttons and then the form continues showing, with neither a confirmation that it was sent nor any indication what is wrong.

  • Tried the US support form, that one worked ... so now waiting to see what Garmin says ...

  • Garmin told me that iOS 13 is not supported anymore and that I should upgrade to iOS 14. After doing that the app still had the same issue, however after re-installing it again it works now. However also after my reinstall on iOS 13 it worked for some time, so I am going to hold my breath for a couple of days to see if it is really stable now.

  • It still works after a couple of days, so it seems the upgrade to iOS 14 and then re-installation of the app afterwards solved it.

  • This is happening to me on ios14. I uninstall connect, reboot, reinstall, login and reconnect all devices and it works great for about a day. After the app gets closed in the background it seems like it breaks and breaks forever. I can open and force close a few times to get it to work but then the next time the app closes in the background by iOS it dies. Would love to work with Garmin support at some point to help, this is really REALLY annoying.
