I just tried to view my step total for the month of December 2020 and discovered that it is now showing weekly totals for the last year. I would much rather see totals from each month so I can compare.

New steps UI in the app, while being nice and modern, has some regressions and useless features.
New 1d overview is fine, 7d and 4w also.
But 1y overview is complete trash now. Why would anyone want date…
Yes just tried to do the same. This is not an enhancement. Can we have the old view back please?
Based on my incident submission yesterday, I already have an email exchange with Product Support. Sending screenshots of iOS and android app and detailed description of issue at the moment.

I found the new system to be far less useful than the old method of showing actual monthly totals based on calendar months. The new presentation method is also cumbersome and not very useful. This is a great example of “progress” that is really not a “step” forward. Bringing back the old method of presenting the data would certainly be great!
Former Member, this is a known issue. I've contacted support and opened a case. I've merged your thread into this one.
I emailed Garmin Support and asked about supporting the case to change it back and got the following reply:

Thank you for reaching out about this! I'm sorry to hear that this change isn't working for the best, but I'll be happy to help make your voice heard. While I'm unsure as to why this was changed, I've officially added impact to the case in order to encourage a change back to a Monthly data breakdown.

Agree. This is also the case with weight. The 7 day can give you this info and if you want to keep it for a 52w setting, fine, but the 1 year should be in months. I was using the monthly average of weight for a goals and progress and it was easy to see no that is lost.
Please bring back the monthly averages.
