1 year step totals view changed from monthly to weekly

I just tried to view my step total for the month of December 2020 and discovered that it is now showing weekly totals for the last year.  I would much rather see totals from each month so I can compare.

  • Based on my incident submission yesterday, I already have an email exchange with Product Support. Sending screenshots of iOS and android app and detailed description of issue at the moment.

January 7th update:  Received response from Product Support, "There is a current engineering ticket (case) on this issue. I have added you to that ticket. When there is a resolution all affected customers will be notified via email."

  • Yes, why have they done this. Makes absolutely no sense!!!

  • I agree, why, when you go to "year view”, would you want it broken down into weeks. Gamin please change this back, or a Keast have the option.

Really don't like the change to the monthly steps total in Garmin Connect. You can no longer see how many total steps you had for the current month...or in any past calendar month. Only rolling totals for 7 days, four weeks, etc.

Garmin clearly understands that people like to track their steps by calendar month, because they promote and offer monthly step challenges. "Get 300,000 steps in January." But with the current views, it's difficult to see how many steps you have thus far in January...or any other past calendar month. And you can still see your total running miles the correct way- by calendar month. But for some reason, they did away with this for steps.

Classic example of changing something that didn't need changing. Please revert this back to the old view for steps...please please.

Why have monthly step totals disappeared? Now it's just a rolling 4-week, 7 day, etc.

Garmin clearly understands that people like to track this with calendar months, that's why they offer and promote monthly step challenges..."get 300,000 steps in January!" you can sign up for that challenge now, but good luck tracking your progress in Garmin Connect.

Another example: running miles are still viewed by calendar monthly totals. They way steps used to be, and still should be.

A classic example of somebody fixing something that was not broken - please give us back our monthly step totals.

Agreed - very much a change for the worse. And inconsistent with not only the way most people like to track this data, but even with the challenges Garmin itself offers. "Get 300,000 steps in January."

  • Yes. This is a user forum and mostly or only users are involved. However this doesn't mean it is not a place to complaint about what Garmin does, this forum is provided by Garmin itself. And it's a shame if they do not use customer voice they can gather here.

  • Garmin does read this forum ! they would be really stupid to not read this forum.

some user have Garmin - in their names. they work for Garmin.

no this is not a misstake they did the same thing with weight.

  • Add me to the list here - I did not realise there was a thread about this already before I created my own one.

Understandable, since most android users aren't looking in the iOS forum for their issue. Nonetheless I've pinned your other thread for better visibility and have joined several threads to this one from the various sub-forums.
