Garmin Sync and Bluetooth issues after latest update

Updated my Forerunner 245 to 5.00  this morning and the garmin connect app,     Shows that the watch is connected on the phone,  but the watch shows no bluetooth connection and I get a never ending sync circle.   Updated with garmin express on windows to try to fix,  restarted both watch and phone devices.   Was able to get data synced to Garmin connect one time to show sleep data and other data,  But  Weather never updated and watchface still shows no bluetooth connection and gets stuck on never ending circle icon when trying to sync..

Thanks for help.

  • After 11.10 update today, my garmin device (Fenix 6x Pro Sapphire) connects to my iphone (XR) but not sync. I deleted connect mobile app too many times and downloaded it again. No solution. I am very disappointed.

  • Contact Garmin Support

    • In picture 1, it says “a device was found” in Turkish.
In picture 2, it says “it is about to complete”.
In picture 3, it says “Sync failed, try again”.
  • Today I've tried:

    • Edge 1030 plus hard reset
    • Segment folders deletion
    • Disable and re-enable Strava Live Segments

    And nothing to do.

Using cable and Garmin Express the sync works great, both with Strava Live Segments enabled or disabled.

Using Garmin Connect iOS as I enable Strava Live Segments the sync stops to work. And as I disable them the sync returns to work.

I confirm is something that Garmin as to fix.

  • Today, I fixed the problem (Probably by chance:))
    1. I formatted my ihone XR device using itunes.
    2. Again I downloaded the Connect Mobile, but it didn’t worked.

    3. After a cup of tea, I decided to delete some of apps from my iphone, like youtube, microsoft teams, webinar and some shopping apps.
    4. After I downloaded Connect Mobile one more time, the app has a sign in screen without remembering me. This was the first time and entered the app by signing.
    5. Remaining procedure was as usual and the app paired with my fenix 6x and sync. I cannot say the exact solution, but it was fixed.

  • 3. After a cup of tea

Might have been the tea. ThinkingGrin

  • Are you using Strava Live Segments? And are them enable?

  • No, never used.

  • That's why is working. If you enabled the Strava Live Segments you would have sync issues.

  • Bluetooth issues have been going on for years with garmin. Don’t know why they can’t fix it???

every time I walk away from my phone, it disconnects, which is acceptable and understandable.
However, if and when I come back within close proximity to my phone, it should reconnect automatically, but doesn’t. I have to “always” reconnect manually, by going to settings, Bluetooth, and reconnect the watch.
This is unacceptable, as any other Bluetooth devices I have connected, with the same scenario, they reconnect automatically.
This should be something easy to fix, and garmin has released many updates, but the problem persists.
I really don’t think they want to address this issue, or maybe it’s a conflict between them an apple. Anyone out there, that can say this is the same issue with Android??
