Garmin Sync and Bluetooth issues after latest update

Updated my Forerunner 245 to 5.00  this morning and the garmin connect app,     Shows that the watch is connected on the phone,  but the watch shows no bluetooth connection and I get a never ending sync circle.   Updated with garmin express on windows to try to fix,  restarted both watch and phone devices.   Was able to get data synced to Garmin connect one time to show sleep data and other data,  But  Weather never updated and watchface still shows no bluetooth connection and gets stuck on never ending circle icon when trying to sync..

Thanks for help.

  • Since this morning, I have this error icon (about sync status) on my garmin devices from iOS Connect App.

I've already updated both iOS and Garmin Connect 1 hour ago.

    But the "red" icon persist.

Anyway the devices seems to sync the data.

    What's happening?

  • I can't sync my forerunner 245 either.  woke up to watch saying it was updated.   tried updating again through garmin express,  also an update for the app on phone.   restarted both devices.   still not syncing, I get stuck in an endless sync circle moving.

  • ok nvm now its working.   after restarting both devices again and after updating the watch on the pc.

  • New update

I've just try to uninstall iOS Connect App from my iPhone and unpair all devices.

    Then I reinstalled it.

When I paired Fenix 5 everything was file and the "exclamation point" icon was not there.

But just I've paired the Edge 1030 Plus too both the devices has started to show the icon.

The sync seems to partially work, but both have always the "exclamation point" icon.

  • From Garmin Connect Mobile app on your iPhone

    • Tap "More" >> Garmin Devices >> Select your connected device
    • Tap 3-dot icon on the upper right >> Remove Device >> Remove
    • Close the Garmin Connect Mobile app

Go back to the main menu on your iPhone

    • Open Settings >> Bluetooth
    • Under "MY DEVICES" tap the "i" icon to the right of your Garmin device
    • Tap "Forget This Device"
    • Restart your iPhone

Open the Garmin Connect Mobile app

    • Tap the "+" icon in the upper right
    • Select your watch from the list of Garmin devices
    • Put your watch in Bluetooth pairing mode (This varies based on device. For the fēnix 5 hold LIGHT and select Bluetooth status to manually enter pairing mode. For the Edge 1030 swipe down on the home screen to view the settings widget, and select Phone > Pair Smartphone)
    • Tap Start on the app on the iPhone
    • When prompted with "Bluetooth Pairing Request" enter the PIN (passkey) displayed on your Garmin device
    • When iPhone displays "Pairing Complete!" tap "Done"
  • I did the same thing.

But the issue is still there, something is synced something not.

For example the workout calendar is synced only through Garmin Express (and the physical cable) but not through the bluetooth connection and Garmin Connect App.

Anyway I believe the problem is related the pairing of two devices.

Because since I pair one single device only, everything works great.

If I pair my Fenix 5 only, and I unpair the Edge 1030 plus, I do not have any problem.

  • Verify you're not using multiple Garmin accounts. Should be the same account for Garmin Express, Garmin Connect Mobile, and Garmin Connect Web - Data is Missing from My Garmin Account After Syncing

  • I'm using one single account.

And If I sync using Garmin Express and the cable everything is perfect.

Something happens since the update of iOS Garmin Connect App of today.

And the problems is there only if I pair the Garmin Edge 1030 too.

Ad I unpair it, the problema goes away.

  • If you've verified all of this and you have Version 4.34.1, then likely this is a new bug and needs to be reported to Garmin Support.
